If you look back at casual culture you will see it has had a massive infulence going back to, well I guess the early eighties. Sergio tops, Fila hoodies, Addidas samba/trimm trabs and those ivan lendal trainers, farrah trousers, head bags and that old staple the lcasote round neck jumper all come from so called hooligans running amok and robbing designer stores (liverpool Fans) across europe. Now don't tell me none of you lot has never worn any of it.
Wore Lyle & Scott, Fila, Sergio Tacchini, Ellesse, Burberry, Pringle, Lacoste, Adidas Forest Hills 30 years ago. hehe

Thing is, I have an MR2 (not one that looks like that, mind), and I don't consider it chavvy at all. It's completely unmodified, it's 20 years old and as it ages it looks more like a neat, clean piece of sports car design.

But bodykitted to look like a Ferrari, adorned with Ferrari badges? The fact it's being identified as a Ferrari means that whoever is driving it wants people to think it's a Ferrari. Sooner or later someone will ask 'is that a Ferrari?' - which is what the owner clearly wants them to think - so what do they say?

Seems to be a very odd mindset that builds those kits. It's not like they've built something from the ground up in the spirit of the original - they've made one car look a bit like another car.
Yep, nowt wrong with an MR2. An MR2 changed and passed off as a Ferrari, that's another matter.

We understand you don't like heavily branded clothing, but that doesn't make it chavy. Just because alot of people throw the word around inaccurately doesn't mean the word can mean anything.
Depends on how you look at it. Most design houses have various labels. The good one (expensive/exclusive) the high street one (not quite as expensive) and the one with the logo splashed on every thread (cheaper than a Kings cross hooker). The latter is bought by the underclass to give some kind of air of wealth (drugs selling well, blagged the social, blagged the local bookies) when in reality everyone knows the bigger the label the cheaper and more common it is.

Give me an agreed definition of Chav, or Chavvy and I might agree with you.

As I've said I don't really like the term, but I've taken it to mean tasteless, if I'm right then I stand by what I've said.

Get it worn and look retro casual cool. Seems to be the way things are going. Old retro items mixed in with this seasons collection.

No, because they are what chav means. I don't care if people think it's "evolved", it hasn't; that pic is a picture of chavs.
Chav is absolutely and demonstrably NOT, and never will be, what at least half of the posts on here think it means.
It doesn't mean "tasteless", it doesn't mean BMW.

Stone Island and Aquascutum are more casual/football hooligan than chav. I think of chavs as wearing tracksuits and Elizabeth Duke jewellery.

Wish I still had them, those Forest Hills were probably my favourite shoes ever, and a very expensive £39.99 at the time. hehe

That doesn't scream chav to you?

I wanted to demonstrate what the chav stereotype means to me so i googled it and chose the picture that most showed what 'chav' means to me, i am not sure why that is a problem?

Could have picked any number of pictures showing burberry caps and full tracksuits/sportswear mind. Funnily enough there wasn't many pictures of most of the other brands being thrown around in this thread...

The thought that either label could be considered chav is, quite frankly, laughable.

Edit - apart from Elizabeth Duke, that's Argos jewelry!

I know some people can be lazy but to be lazy in thinking?

That just takes the KFC family bucket.

Most of the brands mentioned here aren't "chav", merely overpriced st, much of it worn by hipsters who like to be different. I'm talking about grown men wearing trendy t-shirts, skinny funny-coloured jeans and boat shoes. There's a reason you're an "individual" and no one else who isn't a toddler dresses just like you..
