If chavs didn't dress in the following way

But instead the chav uniform was something cool like a leather jacket do you think they'd get more respect?

All this chav talk has reminded me of this. "JJB has a trackie put aside for me..." Classic.

In this context, "chav" should surely be defined as what you consider to be the preserve of those you deem socially inferior.

Yes it starting to be a chav brand.

Same as everything it slowly catches on until even chavs get wind of it. When this happends genraaly a huge explosion of chav is around the corner.
classic examples

Burberry,
Henri Lloyd - 15 / 20 years ago only sailing types wore H-L...
and to some extent Barbour...

interestingly Musto have survived in their Sailing and Equestrian niche ..

I must be a chav because my wardrobe consists almost entirely of the above. 6 pairs of G star jeans, about 20 assorted Fred Perry and Lyle & Scott Polos in assorted colours.
Mine's the same to be fair hehe

Tne meaning of the word Chav...... or white working-class youth

The stereotype of a chav includes wearing branded designer sportswear.[10] Stereotypical attire might be accompanied by some form of gold jewellery otherwise termed 'bling'.[11]

In a case where a teenage woman was barred from her own home under the terms of an Anti-Social Behaviour Order in 2005, some British national newspapers branded her "the real-life Vicky Pollard" with the Daily Star running headlines reading "Good riddance to chav scum: real life Vicky Pollard evicted". [12] A 2006 survey by YouGov suggested 70% of TV industry professionals believed that Vicky Pollard was an accurate reflection of white working-class youth.[9]
Jesus. If you are going to cut and paste straight from http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chav#section_2 at least have the decency to cite refs.

yes I've often wondered what owners of these might say if someone asked what it was:

How is Burberry a chavvy brand?

It used to be. They went through a bad phase about 10-15 years ago. They haven't manufactured a checkered baseball cap in over 10 years (so they all must be fake nowadays)Have you ever been in to a Burberry boutique most of the clothes are elegant .

http://uk.burberry.com/store/menswear/trench-coats... (proper chav stuff right)
