Stradivarius. All the car thieves and 'promising footballers' round here are playing Guarneri's - the plebs.

Maserati
If we can class nouveau riche Russians as chav then I think Maserati is chav too.
You sure? I'm not convinced. I think Ferrari is a bit chavvy on account of all the merchandising and PR hyperbole flying around it, but Maserati seems to have missed out on that, thankfully.

Put it this way - you can't buy Maserati trainers, can you?

I certainly don't think it's anywhere near as chavvy as Bentley, which is irretrievably footballer/lottery-winner these days in a way that Rolls-Royce isn't.

Pretty much all wealthy Russians are nouveau-riche unless their first name is Tsar, so tastes must vary somewhat, but I reckon the chavvy Russian nouveau chariot of choice is the Range Rover Sport.

Definitely chavvy.

Really? TBH I don't see Mario Balotelli as much of a chav. Bit of a nutcase, perhaps, but not a chav. Also, his GranTurismo looks pretty standard.

Well it's white with black alloys... possibly the chavviest, most nouveau riche spec possible. Plus his matte black R8 that he crashed... definitely tasteless chav.

Stradivarius.
In my gran's loft, clearing it out after she died, I found an old violin and an old painting.
I took them to Sotherby's and the expert said "it's amazing, what you have here is a Stradivarius and a Monet."

"how much are they worth?" I asked.

And he said "Unfortunatley, very little. Stradivarius was a lousy painter, and Monet made crap violins."

Mostly, these two threads just prove that there's no consensus over the meaning of chavvy.

Speaking of leathers, what about Lewis Leathers (the kind of thing a chap might wear when riding his Triumph motor-bicycle into town)?

I`m sorry to say my measure of chav is if you can imagine a footballist buying it. I might be wrong but that`s just me.
