A word that people often incorrectly use, like me.

I ended up with that one last night but it was in a Madagascar Box. My 2.5yr old was happy enough with it though!! Unplanned McDonalds trip as got stuck in horrendous traffic and realised that by the time we'd get home it'd be too late for him to have my planned meal of spaghetti bolognese!! Still he enjoyed the meal smile Still made the bolognese, ready for another night!

It's not a problem occasionally.
My daughter is three.
Usually we eat properly cooked meals, with vegetables from the garden, fruit from our trees, fish that have travelled less than 500 metres from where they are caught, and British meat from the butchers. In the winter we eat the game I have shot myself and she helps plucking sometimes, so she's used to eating proper food.

A couple of weeks ago we spent 2 hours in the swimming pool and then went to McDonalds for lunch. She loved it, its not going to do her any harm.

I have to say though, I still felt hungry after my big mac meal, so my wife went and bought me another one. About 2/3rds of the way through I started feeling like I wanted to finish it like I wanted a hole in the head, but I persevered...Far too many calories in one go! Felt a bit rough in the stomach area, didn't have anything for tea, nothing for breakfast the next day and had to think twice about lunch! (perhaps I should add I'm 5'11" and 10st9 with my clothes on, so I'm evidently not in the habit of eating 2 Mcdonalds in one sitting!)

Might not be the calories but how they are made up. If you're not used to stty food it can have a bit of an impact on you.biggrin

Think McDonald's is fine for kids, but as been said; moderation is the key. Alot better than s who force their children to be vegetarian or vegan, there's a special level of hell reserved for those cruel self-obsessed narcissistic tts.

I was a vegetarian for 20yrs but once we'd decided to start a family I started eating meat again. I do not believe in forcing a restricted diet on someone who has no say. I didn't feel confident enough to provide a balanced diet for our child (or for me whilst pregnant) and the potential limitations at eg school. Plus it's much easier to cook one meal for all of us than 2 different ones!

Was a bit weird to eat a quarter pounder for the first time in 20yrs!

Unlike most parents then. Restriction always comes in somewhere.

As others have said everything in moderation....making things taboo with kids isn't the answer.

We have two young children and are pretty relaxed about things....some other parents we know come across are bionically strict with their kids.

Having said all that fizzy drinks like Coke are banned.

Sounds like good advice. How do you achieve it?

Well I think with kids you just have to have limits....doesn't really matter what they are they just need to know you're the boss. On a practical level I suppose we always make sure we have drinks for the kids wherever we go so there's no need for histrionics about wanting coke....I suppose it's trying to be proactive rather than reactive. That said our kids are young still....as they get older it'll get harder and I am sure we'll have to relent.

Child cruelty? Unbelievable, OP should write for the Daily Wail. Forcing McDonalds down a childs neck every day is not right, but every now and then it's a treat. I eat at McDonalds / Burger King far more these days than I did when I was a child. When I was young, it was a occasional treat and one I was grateful for.

I don't have anything against it per se but my children didn't like it the only time they were taken and would much rather go out to a "proper" restaurant.
