Do you really think that most younger kids would prefer a nice two/three course meal to a McDonalds? Really?
Why does the only alternative to McDonald's have to be a 2 course meal in a restaurant? What's wrong with a nice bowl of hot chips and a sandwich (or burger, or pizza) in a cafe? Nice and informal, good atmosphere for the kids if you choose the right cafe.
Most kids would consider that a punishment compared to a McDonalds hehe
The considerations of young children simply reflect those of their parents.
Absolute rubbish.

In my mind, some people look a bit like this, after reading this thread.

I'm actually slightly curious as to what mine would make of a McDs. They like the cafes we go to in any case smile

It was her birthday, her choice. You were so contemptuous you and a bunch of other workmates skipped it entirely? Some workmates you must be. It was a one off. Your sheer snobbery, and self-righteousness marks you out to be quite self-obsessed.

That's one perspective I guess.
On the other hand it might mean that the 15 people who didn't go actually had different tastes to this woman and didn't want to go to a KFC when they had the rest of Oxford to chose from.

I'm not going to apologise or be embarrassed about the fact that I think KFC is a damned stupid choice for a business meal for a group of adult professionals.

It wasn't a business meal. It was a birthday.

The company expenses meals when we're on a course, normally a modest amount for a nice pub - around £50 a head.
As it was this woman's birthday they bumped up the expense allowance so she could go somewhere special.
She chose KFC.

I have no idea of your line of work.
But if you were in that woman's position and had to choose a place to eat for 20 people from your company from different sites and different company ranks - would you choose junk food?

Funny thread this, when you think what that poor Polish kid would have done for a happy meal.

Makes me think that people get a bit precious over what food they give ther kids. As long as all part of a well balanced diet, I can't see any issue.

Your right.
Maybe they should ship them over to the starving children of Africa
Polish kids?

Nah, just wash them. No need for that just polished shine on your kids.

This is true.
I just find it odd to think some people grow up thinking it's in some way a 'special occasion' to eat at McDonalds (or to eat McDonalds in a car).

Perhaps it's a modern equivalent of eating fish and chips with fingers at the seaside?
It's a different event to normal meal times.

"I was just polishing them" sounds like a weak Operation Yewtree defence statement.

If it was my birthday I'd probably go where I wanted to go.

Personally I'm not the sort to say "Well the company allows me £50 for dinner so where can I get a meal that will cost £50" - I tend to think "I'm hungry what do I want to eat?" and sometimes that's McDonalds or KFC.

Exactly. If it was my birthday I would go where I damn well pleased and be quiet happy that I knew which ones of my workmates were a bunch of snobbish gimps.
