How much money do you spend on a night out?

Out with the girls and we tend to spend £100 a head. Although we do have one friend that does the "well I didn't have the starter and you have the more expensive main course" That I can't stand and generally throw the difference in just so a good evening doesnt get runied.
Out with Mr 13th I once picked a tab up for £1,800 including overnight stay in Bray. (I was an idiot and said Oh I'll get this, as Mr 13th nursed a very rare hangover).
It was fun, really fun BUT not that much fun.
With Christmas coming up and as I only work part time my next two wage packets will go on christmas partys

I've no idea really. If I include food, it must be minimum 50 quid as even a (non life threatening) curry house seems to come to 25-30 quid a head minimum if you have a cobra or two. Max - I shudder to think. I don't piss it up the wall with show-off makes of champagne etc, but can be partial to a nice whisky, don't work overly hard to avoid buying a drink, and am partial to going somewhere nice to eat.
I don't really notice the price of beer until I buy a single pint. I was shocked on Friday when I ordered a pint and 2 bags of crips and got about 3 quid change from a tenner!
What I do know is this: No matter how much money I have in my wallet at the start of the evening, it will always, always be empty when I get home.

An average night out probably £200-£250, a quietish night closer to £100.
fk me that's a grand a week your spending! It's under half of that these days.
Getting old
For those who wonder how it's possible, try drinking wine and cocktails in London - it's easy even if you don't eat.

All depends where I go and who I'm with, but pre drinking is king!
predrinks: chuck £5-15 in for a split of spirits and mixers
drinks whilst out: £0-20
Entry: £0-20
Transport: £0-50
bed: £0-40
food: £0-10
Very cheap nights cost me £5 or so and expensive nights can be something like £150+!
I usually aim to spend <£30 if I'm staying locally though and often do successfully.

Christ, am I on the same planet as everyone else?
Southampton Uni - 50p pints, £1 doubles or £2 quads.
Struggle to spend over £20 on a night out.

Edit: yes. Read the thread now. They still have pint glasses in the urinals? Had some bloody good nights there visiting my brother in soton, agreed it is a st hole though. Still, at those prices...

To be fair if I felt I "needed" to spend a certain amount then I would. I guess what I'm saying is that I'd be as happy with a few cokes/beers as with whatever the fk it is that can cost £200.
I'm afraid I might sound cynical or just plain rude here but I get the impression some posters think the amount they've spent somehow qualifies how good a time they've had.
totally, usually it just means you have something to brag about the next day. It's usually just showing off - why else would some places put sparklers in the champagne bottles?I'm afraid I might sound cynical or just plain rude here but I get the impression some posters think the amount they've spent somehow qualifies how good a time they've had.

This isn't a I spend more money then you so I'm better post but some people on this thread seem seriously out of touch with prices in big cities, especially London.
Yes you can go to a local and have a relatively cheap night but even then you are looking at £30-40 assuming your not billy no mates and haven't gone on your own. 3 pints will cost a tenner, spirits even more, if you buy a few rounds for you and your mates that's £40 done on drinks alone.
On the other hand if I out in to Central London "for a few drinks" I am thankful if I get change from £100, a PROPER night out can end up being several times that. How? Easy, £15-£20 to get into most clubs or bars in London, £10-£15 for a drink so buying a round for mates will cost £30 minimum and if you are celebrating or just get silly and start ordering bottles of spirits or bubbly they are £100 going up into the hundreds.
Even a quite meal out with the missus can cost £100 for some decent food and wine.
Is it a rip off? Definitely but it's just an inevitable fact of living in a big city, especially London and I find the fact that in this day and age of technology\interweb\constant information flow that some people on this thread seem genuinely surprised at just how expensive London can be.
