I'd not realised that anyone other than multi-millionaires drunk "bubbly" on nights out.

I fall over after two pintsbiggrin So it's usually a bitter shandy followed by diet cokes for the remainder of the evening unless i'm on a bender and have a second shandy.drink

I have never been able to drink a lot, I have never understood how others do either. A night out still costs upwards of £50 though.

Manchester - wetherspoons - pints - £1.99. This explains some of the difference between my experience and a lot of you guys.
These cheapo bars attract the unwashed
Can be true, depending on where they are. The one by Man U for sure. They're open all over the place these days.

Surely you are taking the piss... you've never seen anyone with a bottle of champers in a pub/club?

There's no need for that. Just because I'm questioning this a bit you don't need to be like that. You're now assuming that the only way to get quality food is from small portions.

Sorry, I think the point stands. This is a lot and is eaten/drunk extremely fast, especially the pints.

Cheers, I'll try that place next week thumbup
Personally I prefer the Nag's Head on Whitechapel High St - I was picking a better known one...

As to a night out - varies hugely, but with mates earning similar money of a similar age to me, about £150 a night would sound about right unless strippers are involved, in which case £300 the norm, though I have spent much more back in my single days.

I'm not saying it's wrong, I'm not even talking about price when I say that is a boat load of food and drink inside 4 - 5 hours. I think a lot of people would struggle to do that and still find the time to talk to their friends! Your last phrase, is that aimed at me/us?
+1... the price and quality is irrelevant really - the volume of it alone seems too much.

No 2 courses isn't a lot. But you forgot the side dishes and snacks that were mentioned plus 3.5 litres of beer on top of that. 2 courses is not a lot, it's the rest of it in the time frame as well.

I think on the volume thing they are talking about drink included. Looking at what you posted above you are drinking 7 pints and 4 G&T's. To some people even eating a packet of crisps on top of that would be a struggle.

Yeah... I could eat that much food easily OR drink that much beer easily.

Doing both of them together over the space of a few hours doesn't sound particularly enjoyable to me smile

I didn't realise it was so specific! rofl

Anyway, as I say its the sheer volume of liquid plus all that all inside the 4 hours! I really would struggle if I was supposed to be talking to people, and it would be far from pleasant. Surely to keep the pace like this you have to be militant on the timing from the get go.

Entree, main and 2 sides? You been away from the north too long! Pub grub with mates is a main, fish n chips, burger n chips, nachos, etc. And serves you right drinking G&T's. Were you drinking with Royal Navy chaps? If not then yer just being poncy and gay for the sake of it.

And why the buggerings are you not getting the Tube after you have had a few????

Seriously, have I been drinking around a different London to the rest of you or something?

So basically you could have done it for well under £100 but you were being poncy and gay. Gotcha. Good job some of us havent forgotten our roots old boy just cos we're earning a few bob tongue out

You mean the pubs which have the best selection of decent beer in every town in the country, bar the specialist outlets?
