Aren't they some sort of balloons or something. They all seem to be moving left and right in a line that would have it attached near that building.

I think it's not pumped up that much - from what I recall from the tests it's surprisingly small when it lifts (and suprisingly large when he jumps)

Looks like they are using a big elastic band to launch it into space, the truck obviously winds the elastic band up & someone pulls the pin out by the looks of it
