Ice cream and teaspoons don't go well together. Shame really, someone need to make a decent hybrid capable of both tasks.

I recommend the Fœrnųft. Despite being accused of patent infringement on the design of the Von Huēber MultiStir (you'll recall the case against the designer was mysteriously dropped after the Von Huēber failed to make the semifinals in its division of the 2006 Spoonathon at Gdansk), it's a modern design with a sturdy build, capable of getting stuck into even the most demanding frozen yogurt. I know the flange takes some stick in these here parts, but a good compromise for when you're needing a more versatile spoon for also tucking into a Ben & Jerry's.

Thank you. I shall seek in the shops today. I have to say though, the thought of spooing with Ben or Jerry, or both simultaneously is not something I had ever considered. But, now you come to mention perhaps it's worth consideration. I shall of course ask you to keep that insight to yourself. In these difficlt times... walls have ears.

and, indeed, ice cream

listen up now everybody, teaspoons are for stirring, stirring hot drinks, namely tea and coffee (yes, I'm no purist)

they are not for shovelling sweet dairy products down your drooling, blubbery, pie-hole

that's the job of a dessert spoon, now let's hear no more of the matter

I've not been on here in a while due to some, shall we say, unpleasantness with the Whisk Institute (which I think some of you may already be aware of).

However, I spotted these little beauties on a trip the the South recently and felt I had to share.

A genuine set of Fred Holsclaw SpoonMax's! I was sorely tempted to pick these up, but as you know they're only compatible with the StirMax cups that are also of Holsclaw design. There were none of those available in the same sale, unfortunately - although I suppose that would go some way to explain the low sale price of these units...

I read about it in The Gazette. I hear your Shrodingers got bent in the melee. Sorry to hear that.

You can use those spoons on non StirMax ISO cups but you will need to remember to put in a quick, reverse snatch every forth rotation of the cup to correctly inverse the milk. There have been some reports in the press about a small volume of unstirred tea in the centre of the cup and tests in the lab have shown this method solves the issue.

Will the warranty be affected?

Langfords do an extended warranty.

Joel is your man, a more knowledgable man does not exist on these shores. HE doesn't shout about it but he has a true eye for quality flangework. He spotted - and identified - my Aspen 8507 from the tip poking from my ostrichskin travelling case.

I've heard about this reverse snatch technique, but it sounds quite complex - especially for a south paw like me: My natural tendency to, essentially, be already reversed means I would need to double reverse. Wouldn't this be a touch risky?

Thanks for the concern by the way, NDA. You heard correctly: The Shrodingers did get damaged which was quite distressing. It was worth it to get the point across though, if you know what I mean. They're in for repair now and should be ready in around 2-3 months from when they can source the correct grade of palladium (although how long that will be is anybody's guess).

ETA: Good call on the warranty, but remember they're not suitable for every condition. Don't forget to check the T&Cs closely first. For example, I've seen some clauses banning stirring of tea, and some of coffee. I can understand the coffee clause at a push, but to ban tea stirring completely negates the purpose of the spoon in the first place!

Be careful out there. Google is not always your friend.

Having come into a modest inheritance I though I might invest a little in a few nice spoons.

My hands are shaking with rage. The disrespect shown to spooning is gaulling.

As if Tiko has ever even come close to competition grade stirring. I think not!

I recognise him. He mostly hangs around northern stir-offs. Gateshead in particular, iirc. Keeps himself to himself. Never seen him stir in anger. Usually packs a Biggleswade 'Old Reliable'.
