New Teaspoon Advice Please
Discussion
At present, I cannot locate my one off kanava wood spoon, handcrafted for me in Tokelau, Polynesia. Late to spoons, the craftsmen being more used to carving fishing canoes and Kaukumete boxes for fishermen once considered expert, nonetheless they made a fine job of it.
However, I did spot an advert earlier this week for a revere, or at least what looks to be a revere. Is anyone thinking of bidding?

One has to be careful as both Paul Revere and his father Paul Revere senior made teaspoons for a living if it's a Paul Revere senior teaspoon it is obviously not worth as much as one made by the traitorous revere of Independence fame *
- This is actually true as I saw one of those on Pawn Stars.

Sailing around the Islands, as a young man, I found sitting in the nakamals, drinking kava, the local headman was always keen to whip out his utensil and show it off. In that smokey atmosphere, among all the elders, you could see the handywork of great craftsmen.just to add to the confusion, there is of course the increasingly rare Owen Paul REVERSE teaspoon
Owen Paul of course was in the hit parade in 1986 with 'My Favourite Waste of Time' (about his semi-pro stirring)
he of course then tried to patent the 'reverse stir' which he so famously used in the Helsinki Open and marketed the short-lived range of 'Paul Reverse' spoons, including the Junior and Senior models (as well as the Veteran, which Blib would be familiar with)
I don't have to explain to our more mature spooners why he failed to claim 'the reverse' as his own

...and it's a TABLEspoon.
I'm embarrassed to admit this, but being unable to find a Revere jr teaspoon for my collection. I was thinking of sticking it on a hot wash in the dishwasher and shrinking it down. I am sincerely sorry for this thought, just desperation on my part. I have chance of a lady Revere cube spoon (inspired by mrs R senior)also and I guess I just got carried away at the thought. It will be just my luck now if the lady Revere ends up at auction and out of my league. All the old air cooled spoons have increased in value so much recently, but the water cooled ones just don't do it for me.edited to remove ownership details of the lady revere, all's fair in love and spoons :-)

Is that what Beastie Boys were rhyming about all those years ago?

Who knew that there were hip hop spooners.

- calls buying a teaspoon "adding one to my stable"
- announces said purchase was one they didn't know they needed / wanted only 2 minutes prior, such is the insignificance of their wedge dropping in the grand scheme of things.
- ratchets up the level of PH awe by casually mentioning it's the wife's
- gives the spoon a name
- becomes acknowledged marque expert within 48hrs.

Many spooners on PH have had a copy. Very out of date now, prices and dealers have changed greatly. Hugo is yer man to go to for Teutonics.http://www.amazon.co.uk/Collectible-Spoons-Reich-J...
The new emerging market is Eastern Europe.

Spōnn's and their Nuremberg derivatives have slowly become more established since the spring of 1942 after Karl Dönitz and Gustav Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach found favour within the Reich for their stirring techniques.http://www.amazon.co.uk/Collectible-Spoons-Reich-J...
Anyone with even the most scant knowledge of such matters will note the Krupp name - and the considerable history attached.

The Reich were working on this. Had it gone into service, it could have changed the course of the war.http://www.amazon.co.uk/Collectible-Spoons-Reich-J...

I'm grateful for the pointer. I'm aware, of course, of the Krupp works of the 1950's. A good insight to the earlier history of which I wasn't aware. I'm fascinated by the Submariner ware, and its ability to work sub-sea in both north and south hemispheres consistently. Inspiring.Anyone with even the most scant knowledge of such matters will note the Krupp name - and the considerable history attached.

Were many of the PanzerLoffels were made, and did any survive from the Thuringian labs?. I suspect Russia got them all.
AFAIK, seven were completed and another fifteen were partially built. Of those seven, five were transferred to Thuringian in August 1944 for advanced field trials. When the 125th Spoonborne Div. fought their way into the lab complex, three were recovered. Two were stamped with the "Geheimnis Teelöffel Anlage" motif and were ready for deployment while the third was found in a heavily fortified bunker, still in its stirring rig.So, four have been "lost", which in today's climate, is a sobering thought.
