Stainless steel or plastic? No my dear fellow, you don't choose either of those. Titanium, silver or platinum work just fine. Carbon fiber for the sportsman.
But any metal variety will heat up when you inevitably leave the spoon in the mug whilst it brews and burn your fingers when you try to stir it. Although this is more of a failure on my part for attempting to make it myself rather than have the butler brew it in a teapot.Doing some spoon related Googlery, I've just stumbled upon this very important bit of research

They don't. They just want us to know how rich they are. tts, with their fancy metal spoons.
They can all just fork off! I'm hoping to get back into the fold after xmas with this little beauty, i know it is a massive step down from the normal classics but i feel porcelain give an enthusiast the best mix of budget, handle temprature and stirring ability. Where else could you find a spoon with the ability to stir all day and yet stay comfortable to hold for that price. I know what some of you might be thinking (a few months ago i would have agreed) but now i find myself needing a spoon this has proved to be the best all rounder.

Due to a slight affair i lost my beloved collection of tea-spoons to the EX in the divorce and am now stuck with nothing more than a biro to stir tea.

Mate... wow, where can I get them from? That's my grail teaspoon that, but they don't come up for sale too often.I'm hoping to get back into the fold after xmas with this little beauty, i know it is a massive step down from the normal classics but i feel porcelain give an enthusiast the best mix of budget, handle temprature and stirring ability. Saw one on eBay the other week but had to report it as I think it was fake.

Funniest thread I've read in ages.
The 300bhp post was a particular favourite. I am slightly disappointed that there hasn't been any fanboy fighting regarding which direction to stir in though.
I'm sorry. STIR?The 300bhp post was a particular favourite. I am slightly disappointed that there hasn't been any fanboy fighting regarding which direction to stir in though.
A simple horizontal movement is sufficient. Stiring would make it more likely that the spoon would touch the side of the cup/mug, causing scratches.
T-Cut is not advisable in tea.

I would avoid ebay and stick to the owners club www.porcpoons.co.uk it can be a little chavvy in there but there are some good spoons on there, plenty of stir-threads and even one mans attempt to fit a bowl at each end of the handle, although the extra bowl has really ruined the natural stirring balance it is a fine peice of kitchen engineering.Saw one on eBay the other week but had to report it as I think it was fake.

I think there was a link to the build thread in the "Decently Modified Spoons Vol III" threadWetPaint said:

I think you'll find that a properly controlled stir in a clockwise direction is the only way to ensure that the milk and sugar is correctly and completely mixed with the tea.
I fear I may have opened another can of worms mentioning milk and sugar...
