Great to see some proper working knives unlike all the poseurs that usually post biggrin Apart from the chopper, any proper Sheffield steel or legislators insist on the stainless ?
The cleaver has been with me for most of my 38yrs in the trade,it has a lovely weight for me.
I've tried the stainless ones ,they are crap to say the least, they don't sharpen like that one does.

lapland pukko

something similar to this

got one of these waiting for me in Finland:

Hunting knife

Hunting knife is used every time we go in the forest to survey the area to see what needs harvesting timber wise and what needs thinning down.

Nearly everyone will carry a hunting knife or a Sami Leuku, (shown below). Its common sense if stuck in the forest or if need it for defence from the local wildlife.

Sami Leuku is traditional camping knife.

So, while it's ok to fap into a frenzy over guns in the gun porn thread, knives are confined to the remit of weirdos?

Edit: I have no issue guns either, I'm simply making a point. My girlfriend hates knives unless they are cooking or culinary knives.

Where she automatically sees a weapon, I see a tool, and a pleasing one at that if it's well designed and tactile.

Du1point's examples above are stunning.

I can't get pictures (mainly because they are in storage right now) but my Father has and will pass to me my Grandads Kukris, 2 Dress and 2 Working blades. The Working Kukris are still in perfect condition but the Dress scabbard needs some work.

In the assumption that you are not being facetious, can you tell me why?

Ahhh, now that brings back some very good memories. My first job was behind a butchers counter, did it for 2 years, wish I hadn't gone off chasing money and stuck with it (the money thing didn't really work out anyway..)

Nah, you need a pair that let in the maximum amount of light, given that it's always dark. Light is more important than maginfication strength.

Personally, I don't take binoculars to the ballet. That's more for the real hard core fans who wish to see every nuance of the footwork.

Positive: Opens one-handed and fast
Negative: That makes it highly illegal in the UK
Hope not, I have one. Bought it at Litts a few years ago. Very cool design (if you like that kind of thing)

You make a good point and it's hard to explain, but somehow knives just shout 'nutter', much more than guns do, if you know what I mean?

Take the scene in Lock Stock for example. Everyone looks at their guns and it's all perfectly normal, perfectly normal until what's his face produces a bloody great big knife, then it becomes scarey.

Mind you, having looked at the OP's location it's hardly surprising that he has such a selection.

Ye gods! How much weight do you have to put behind an ox splitter for it to split an ox!

The yellow handled knives I see used quite often by butchers, who supplies them?
