thank you - and that was all the push i needed to order one . i went for the CF handled one I linked, just because I think the handle looks quite elegant, and I'm a sucker for CF - and at £40 I think it's excellent VFM.

are there any other forums that people use since BB went?

I really like the Fox Radius folding knife but as it has one handed opening and a button lock it would not meet UK carry and it seems an annoyance to have to take it out of my bag every time I am not taking it to the place where I would use it a lot.

(I assume my UK carry defence would be that I use it at the horse yard for cutting and opening the feed and bails etc. and then would need to leave it at home when not going to the yard) At £380 it is not cheap.

I find one handed opening is useful when working.

A one-handed opening, non-locking, blade of less than 3"
doesn't require a special reason to be carried in the UK.

Cutting and opening horse feed and bales in a horse yard doesn't require a £380 locking knife (you could use one l, or even a samurai sword if you wanted to), or for it to be carried everywhere, the last time I checked.

I would just leave a suitable work knife at the horse yard.

I do use a non locking single handed blade now, I just like the look of that knife but was trying to justify a reason to own it….if I didn’t use it at the yard then it just becomes an ornament.

My current EDC is the Spyderco UKPK and I love it. But it is a little ‘tactical’ looking and this Boker is much nicer in that respect

Whoops. HH have a sale on, including the CRKT Dually down from £35 to £15, at which price I reckon it's a steal. I bought 2 - one for a late Christmas pressie for my mate

Comes very sharp, and has a nice feel overall despite clearly being a cheaper build than many of my knives. The detents are strong both ends - I've had slipjoints that close more easily (if not holding the tang to "lock" it out), and you have to want to open it - this may partially be a result of the small opening tang and short blade giving not a lot of leverage in each direction.

I'd recommend getting one at this price if you're interested, but I know my TA Tulip will be back in my pocket in a day or two.

I saw that offer and bought one. It does come very sharp and I managed to cut my finger the first time I closed it.
