His last wishes were to see his son, and his ex wife let him see his son for 20mins, but he was too weak to converse with him.
20 minutes? What the actual f***

You would have thought she would be able to put aside any feelings of animosity as the boy's dad was dying.

Wow. Seriously. Wow.

Who is she, Beelzebub?

His ex wife said she didn't want the boy to see sam, as she believed Sam's frail and gaunt appearance would scare him for life. Also, she said Sam was exaggerating his illness when he said he didn't have long left...Disgusting

frown. I am genuinely in tears reading this news. I knew he was so poorly yet always thought he would win through, he just gave that feeling.

My deepest sympathies to you and your family Middx, I am so so sorry for your loss and it appears the continued fight you will endure with Sam's ex, a woman whose behaviour I will never understand.

RIP Sam, you deserved so much more x

What nonsense - The boy could, easily, have had it explained to him clearly and that would have prepared him properly for life. I didn't get to say bye to my Dad as he died of a sudden and massive heart attack when I was 15 and I was away at boarding school - That scarred me more than anything.

I truly hope that her actions have left an imprint on her as no one, surely, can be that callous and heartless, believing that he was exaggerating it - for him to die, which is truly tragic and awful, should haunt her and I hope it does.

I hope you can get a full transcript of this for you to print and keep as however this all plays out, he needs to see how much he meant to Sam.

My condolences to you, your family and his son.

Now I need to go and clear this grit from my eye...

A sad end to a sorry tale.

I do hope this lady sees the light at some point in her life and doesn't pass on her bitterness to her child.

Humans are odd creatures.

middx, I'm so sorry to hear this.

I can only hope and wish that your nephew grows up to be just like his dad..and when the time is right he learns the truth about his mothers actions.

A heartbreaking tread from start to finish really, as a father of two young boys myself I hope I would conduct myself in the manner Sam did if I had to face either of the situations he found himself through no fault of his. I wonder if it is possible to put his full name in the thread, so if his son ever googles his name he can see it and maybe get a wee bit of his dad's thought's to show him how much Sam fought for him.

Rest in peace Sam

Il echo the thoughts of others that it's incredibly gutting to hear such news about a person you have never met but have been rooting for so much for so long. I'm not religious in the slightest but I hope Sam is watching over his boy now and at least getting to see him grow every day.

He will one day grow up and learn who his dad was, how strong he was and how loved he was.

There are no words for the mother, I find it hard to believe that there are people so callous and heartless out there but evidently there are. She will get what's coming to her one day and if her boy does learn the truth in the future she will likely lose him and that will be the greatest price she will pay.

Can I ask what her attitude was towards the funeral,if you don't mind?

R.I.P Sam you fought till the end

She didn't turn up to the funeral, but from what I have heard from the social services, she was shocked to hear of his death.

No doubt, karma will sort out the ex. Do what you can for his son. I'm sure he will see the truth in time.

He really loved his son, you could see it in the picture too. That brought tears to my eyes. Condolences to your family.

What a great loss to the human race.

Sam RIP, i mean every bit of that.

I always hovered around the thread and liked to try and show my support, i mean im not a close friends, just some other name on a forum, but this guys story has shown us what a true, good and strong man is.

I have no words for his ex, rage is nowhere near close. This isn't the thread for that.

Keep fighting middx make sure the lad grows up knowing who his father was.

If I didn't think it'd hurt the rest of family's chances of being involved with the young lad I'd want to see her punished and SAMs story to go viral. Such a shame.

I'm not defending the ex in any way, the whole thing sounds bloody appalling, but we should bear in mind we are hearing one side of the story and perhaps wind down the vitriol a little.

I understand. She left him when she realised how bad his state was and what his fate would be, she didn't want the burden, what more is there to say? it is what it is even if it sounds unbelievable. I could slag her off till the ends of the earth, but I haven't in this thread as one day my nephew might read this, and I think people should have a right to express their opinions. The facts are laid bare
