NEVER ask for fashion advice on this forum. Think essentially about where you are? The sort of people that do thousands of posts on a car forum, are not the sort of people you want to be askign for any sort of advice. The majority are all geeks, who think a pair of stonewash baggy jeans and a t shirt are what you should be wearing!
So very true smile

The last "What Coat" thread was a prime example.
To be fair, I'm not convinced there's a correlation between post count and sartorial sensibility, rather, I think it is the inability of people to accept that others have different tastes in life, clothing etc. It seems the two most prevalent responses to an opposite taste are either that the person is a chav or a homosexual.
Considering post count as the be all and end all, I entirely agree. It was more the point that a group of blokes on a car forum - with fashion tastes from ultra modern through to the more popular "not being naked" - are not the right chaps to be asking for fashion advice smile Especially when many, like you say, consider their particular 'style' as 'it' biggrin

Anorak over a suit?

Buy an overcoat man!
I do have a couple of overcoats and not one of those Barbour things. But then I'm not fashionable, stylish or trendy so what do I know?

Actually, I'm not the best person to give advice on fashion. I don't dress my age and can't stop thinking about camo. Fortunately, it's "on trend" at the moment so I won't look like Mike from Spaced.

If you get a quilted one, be sure to wear it over a shirt with an absurdly fat windsor knotted tie round your neck and a pair of trousers. Extra points if the trousers are grey, the shirt black and the tie, a different shade of black. Shiny, pointy shoes complete the look and no, I wouldn't like 'Supaguard' thanks.
I saw lots of people in this uniform the last time I went for a drink in the City. hehe

I bought a lighter Barbour jacket yesterday direct at the factory yesterday. Nice outlet shop with some cracking discounts and a nice classic trials bike on display too. James bike with Villiers engine smokin

Bought one of these at £59.

Had a Barbour in my youth. I wasn't impressed with its sturdiness. I managed to wear through some fold in the sleeves. I also found you could either have it waterproof and sweat like a pig or allow the wax to thin, not sweat, but lose the proofing.

I've since moved to an RM Williams oiled cotton coat. Much better all round.

I have a Driza-Bone, picked up in Australia. Id be tempted by a cheap Thornproof for sensible money, though.

Wear whatever you want....jeez the snobbery is strong on this thread.

I have had a Barbour quilted jacket for years, warm and comfortable.

For chavs ?,The people queuing up for them at the Barbour factory shop in South Shields would argue otherwise.

Never seen chaos with new Range Rovers filling up with Barbour gear before.
Because Ranger Rover owners only shop at high end outlets, right? That'll explain the guy in the white Ranger Rover Sport who I spotted going to B&M Bargains then.

I've got a nice quilted one.. I don't think it's chavy at all.

The ones that are chavvy IMO are the ones you see more on the high street with the bright yellow BARBOUR badge on the chest..

Mines got a very discreet black embroided 'Barbour' on the pocket. Nice and subtle.

I've got a black 4oz lightweight barbour which has been fantastic, very light and wraps up small, no bold logo etc.

Also just got hold of the Beacon Heritage which is a olive 6oz waxed Barbour but cut as a sports jacket, some really nice details (leather trimmed cuffs & collar, shoulder and elbow reinforcement, poachers pockets around the back, two big bellow pockets) and again, no bold logo.
