. However as far as I know only Pokerstars open themselves up to scrutiny, and a lot of the major sites do now allow their algortihms to be studied.
Call me thick, but that doesn't make sense to me
It makes perfect sense.

Unless you've got some way of predicting quantum randomness or cracking 2048 bit RSA keys? Which, if you have, will probably see the Government knocking down your door within the next few minutes seeing as you would have the computing power to crack any internet security at will, never mind that between a particular poker client and its server.

Have lost about £20 online, usually come second when playing with mates. Is more of a social thing for me, so don't really enjoy the online stuff (haven't logged on for months). Might go into town and visit a casino at some point (or find a local game).

I play poker occaisionally, but only live. Sometimes in the casino, but mostly at a mates house. Usually £25 buy in (£5 scalp)

However my old man plays quite a bit online aswell as live, and is convinced SkyPoker is rigged to favour the weaker hand, or let the weaker hand win on the river, or even deal two different players very strong hands, to entice people into betting bigger, going out, and starting again.

I take the piss, but even watching him playing it does seem slightly off. I find online extremely non involving. I prefer the interaction with people

Play mainly live now, but also on Stars Sit & Go and Zoom mainly and the odd tourney.

Did try and organise a tourney here but it wasn't that well supported.

I've been playing Texas for about 2 years.... 7 friends and I play 8 times a year and have damaged our livers irreparably in the process. Huge fun. We put £50 each into the pot as our total stake with each chip being worth 50p.

I'm rubbish at it, but did have a royal flush last year and cleaned up!

Is there a non gambling Internet type app for practice? I wouldn't mind trying to sharpen my skills, but without betting...

Most sites have a play money section.

Which won't actually help you to play better at all.

They make you better at working out the very basics like which hand do I have and the more technical stuff like calculating outs, equity and pot odds, but the betting / bluffing is not realistic I understand.

I play online small-medium stakes full ring cash games on Pokerstars for a living, and have done for the past 5 years.

Feel free to ask me anything you want to know about poker.

That's my cash game graph from last year before bonuses, showing how poker can easily be a low variance, stable form of income.

That's not a brag by the way, my roommate has made $650k in the last 2 years. Not bad for a 23 year old.

This is a full breakdown of my stats from last year.

Basically i call about 16% of hands preflop (VPIP), raise just under 12 (PFR), and 3bet(reraise) 4.7%.

Feel free to ask away about any of the other stats.

I try to play 4.5-6 hours a day. I generally aim to play 100 hours a month.

I've only really recently started to play cash games seriously as opposed to the odd cheap sit & go. ~$240 up for the past two days, although $99 of that was a sit & go tourney. I have played hold em for about 8 years, but only very casually. I'm considering it as a part time supplement to my income at the moment.

RKi how are you tracking your stats?

Played almost every day for 5 years online back in the golden era. I wouldn't even bother now unless you are playing for fun and are happy giving your money away.

The cheating aspect is overhyped and all losing players claim the sites are rigged. However lower stakes are populated by 'bots' and young warriors grinding 20+ tables guided by computer programmes.

Playing live is much better now in comparison plus it has the social aspect.

I'm talking about NLHE here, Omaha still possibly worthwhile online.
