The thread in which PHers reveal tenuous links to famous people.
Discussion
Just been to the celebratory party of the winner of the Great British Bake Off for Nancy Bitrtwhistle in my home town.
Got a book signed by her personally to my niece.
Her husband was my Doctor for 20 years, whom I know personally, who is my real claim to tenuous claim to fame is that he is the only "bloke" who has ever felt my balls!

Whilst we're on the subject of "supermarkets" Keith Chegwin is often seen in our local supermarket.

Just seen him interviewed on TV, where I was reminded that Benedict Cumberbatch lived in the same Manchester University Hall of Residence as my (mentalist) ex-GF.
I'd blame the water if I were you!OT - PurpleTurtle - is your name related to the clubs that were around in London a few decades ago? Every time I see PurpleTurtle all I recall is Sunday nights near Camden, all an E fueled haze of bangin music and girls dancing on the bar.
ETA:
Gosh it is still there...

Indeed it is, although I go by association with the original PT in Reading, which goes back to the 80's,and is still going strong! Association or involvement? I can only claim a few years of being involved with a few of the DJs around Camden, not quite the 80s - but I do love it when 'PH kids' with only 30 months to their name knock heads with a few of us older folks, and turn out to be long lost acquaintances. Devonshire, Slimelight or Ballroom anyone?
Years ago, my cousins lived next door to Phillip Schofield
Back in 1980ish, my parents had a hotel in london and were asked to use it for the filming of The Professionals.
Apparently I would run around (i was only 2, maybe younger) and Gordon Jackson would pock me up and carry me around.
Finally, my mum, reckons she is related to the second
world war pilot Douglas Bader.

How old were you at the time? There might be a blame-n-claim opportunity here! DWS said:

I don't like what they've done with the downstairs. Upstairs is ok. Edited by PurpleTurtle on Thursday 9th October 01:07
The gig room out back is a gritty dream still.
Has the burger van gone yet?

To answer the other poster, my association only goes as far as drinking in there fairly regularly.

Just received a text from Mrs Blib who is out with her showbiz journo friend. Mrs B. is this moment chatting with Robert Webb from Mitchell and Webb and Nigel Planer.

That's ok - you can always record it for her so she can watch it later.I'm at home, watching reruns of Wheeler Dealers.
An obscure PH one: my mum got upgraded on a flight back from Germany in the 80s and was sat next to Nigel Mansell. He'd just come 3rd in the Grand Prix and was apparently charming.
When my wife was a student she worked for a holiday company out of term time, and ended up looking after one of Philip Green's (Arcadia Group) kids when they injured themselves. A few weeks later he sent her a thank you card and store vouchers for several hundred quid.
