Pistonhead claim - I once had a passenger ride in Lady Di's Mercedes Brabus or AMG 600SL when she returned it to MB. It was hideously fast
Pedant Police:

She had an SL500. Not AMG or Brabus. You can see it at BenzWorld.

I had the exact same one, how's that for tenuousness smile

My brother-in-law's band were due to support The Stone Roses at a local gig just as said Mancs made it big, but canned the gig a few days before because the bass player had to revise for his Geography 'A' Level, so they nearly but not quite met the band.

Incidentally they (the BiL's band, not the 'Roses) are getting it back together this year and sound pretty good. Certainly sing better than Ian Brown!smile

One of my dads old school friends was told by his parents that the band he was in wasn't going to go anywhere, they made him leave to go to uni; the band was Status Quo.

In some ways they were right.

Woooa. That reminds me. My housemaster told us he had the choice between a joining a band from uni and teaching. He chose teaching. No idea how true it was, but he was a good guitarist.

The band went on to become Smile. They changed their name and became quite famous.

He would have been the JD role.

I used to work with a guy who left Tears for Fears before they became famous.

He probably made more money than them in the long run.

My Dad was Ents officer at LSE. He turned down an undergraduate who wanted to do a gig there. The undergrad left LSE about a year later - he's called Mick Jagger.

My sister runs one of the stately homes for, well let's say the inner circle of the royal family.

Money is spent like you cannot imagine.

Try £1 m on a bathroom refurbishment

45 k buying a stuffed polar bear to stand in the hall

A 9' high gold rabbit to stand in an orangery.

This leads me to a tale ive mentioned before of the lady of the house telling my sister to get rid of " an awful van parked on the drive "

It was a brand new lwb Land Rover she had been bought for her birthday some months previous.

Now that's wealth. Not even knowing what cars you own not caring.

My mate has shagged one of the Masterchef quarter finalists from around 2010.

I don't know anything about fur burgers or cream pies so don't ask.

My Dad's workshop once repaired Anthea Turner's Range Rover

I have personally high-fived Bill Bailey, I didn't have his consent to do so but as he was riding around us on a segway trouser press I just thought it was the obvious thing to so

I have almost literally bumped into Vicky Butler-Henderson at a trackday. I was incredibly embarrassed by my mate who gawped at her as if he was looking at a being from another dimemsion.

I saw Stan Collymore get punched outside a nightclub in Birmingham many moons ago.
Probably one of the nicest things I will ever say about the place.

It's tenuous, but it's true
