I met and chatted with Olivia Colman at a mutual friends house when pretty much the only things she had appeared in was an advert for the AA and a small part in the first series of The Office.

I sat opposite Boris Johnson at a business lunch

Jenson button and his Mrs were enjoying lunch about three tables away in a London restaurant

But best of all. As a teenager I appeared on Tiswas and was interviewed by the delicious Sally James (wonder what happened to her?)

I had a facebook post read out by Simon Mayo on Wittertainment last week.
Me too! Mine was regarding very old film posters that are still on billboards.
Mine was regarding the TV movie of the week. I wrote that Jaws gets better with age, and that The Hurt Locker is over-rated.

I didn't even mention that Jaws is not about a shark!

I was stood at the bar at an open mic night at Chris Evan's pub just outside my village, and shared a few smiles and pleasantries with a lovely woman stood next to me. I thought I knew her, and it was only the next day I realised that it was Sally Hawkins.

One of my friends was in a Sugababes music video. My Mrs is now godmother to her daughter so, most tenuously: my girlfriend's goddaughter's mum was in a Sugababes video. Dunno which one.

As an eight year old on a caravan holiday with my parents, I had a childhood romance with a girl who is now married to Rio Ferdinand's brother.
That's quality tenuousness.

I have a similar; My sister's best friend (who fancied me) nearly married (but bailed) on Diego Forlan's brother.

My Ex-GF was in Junior Vasquez's video for "Get your hands off my man" and "Krazy Kats" By PJ and Duncan and was the album cover (literally) of U Girls by Nush.
I'm glad I googled that. The album cover, not the PJ & Duncan video...
Both vids are terrible, the album cover isn't bad though.

Good times.

The receptionist at the local Mercedes garage (York) where my car goes is one of the Cheeky Girls according to the service person. I don't think he's lying.
Surely you can test this by phoning up and booking your car in for a "cheeky service". They must have a song for it, cheeky boy.
I'd have thought she'd be more suited to a job at Nando's, seeing as fans thereof always seem to want to go for "a cheeky Nando's" laugh

I've got so many really interesting ones.

Erm....

  • I once bumped into (literally) ex-Stig Ben Somethingorother, just after the Top Gear stuff kicked off.
  • My 2nd or 3rd cousins (I don't know how cousins work) are/were Darryl & Aaron Flahavan, both professional Goalkeepers until Darryl (Southampton/Woking/Southend Utd/Bournemouth among others) joined Leeds Utd's coaching staff this summer. Aaron (Portsmouth FC) died in a car crash in 2001 frown
  • I once asked Mr Motivator for an autograph. He obliged.
  • I've shaken Jimmy Carr's hand, while he observed my wife's chest. I didn't know he was doing that, it was only down to a picture someone took that we noticed!
  • I called Peter Andre a wker when he came to visit our school. Granted he may not have heard me (it was a cough*wker*cough type affair). It was when he undid his shirt and made all the girls scream. wker.
  • I've overtaken Stirling Moss on the inside of a corner (true story).
  • One of my cars has been on a couple of TV programmes. One of the presenters was Jason Dawe, who was sound as a pound. All the other presenters on both shows were total cocks.
  • I once sold Stuart Ripley (another footballer) a cycle speedo when I worked in Halfords Eastleigh.
  • I sent Tim Peake a picture on Twitter of one of my sons dressed as him for their school 'Heroes Day'. He took the time to 'like' it, which made said son's day laugh (more than the footballer my other son dressed as did)
I didn't promise they'd be interesting.

Apparently I met both Ken Dodd and Geoff Capes when I was a nipper (Not at the same time). I don't remember either encounter though. My mum likes reminding me about it when she's going through the family pics if I happen to be there. Ooh remember the time when...and then hands me a photo. Every bloody time I have to say no mother it was 30 years ago. rolleyes

Both my uncle and cousin know and have met quite a few pro footballers. My cousin was at Rio Ferdinand's retirement party.

Nice and tenuous.

Quite a few tenuous and non tenuous links when i get thinking about it.

One of my close mates "Stared" in the documentary series bush pilots.

I go to the same flying club as James May, some times have a pint.

I helped build James May's Lego house, with aforementioned other pilot buddy (Not just brick clicking like the mass invited public).

My wife is a relativity well known children's book author.

The singer Adele gave us her breast pump just after our little one was borne.

I once went on a date with Billie Piper

I have been round Paul Daniels house when my dad was doing some work for him.

Also done work for Lenny Henry and Dawn French - they wernt in.

My parents own a holiday lodge in Cornwall, it was rented out to Aidan Turner when filming poldark. We were there last week.

My mate owns a formula 1 team (Wont go in to details)

I do a lot of work for F1 part manufacturers, so meet a lot of drivers / test drivers.

Stuff and such, i'm just a normal bloke really.

Nice and tenuous.
A few years ago a few of us jumped into a taxi in Vilamoura as the taxi pulled away , Rio and his family walked across the road in front of us , the taxi driver waved them across as well .

His brother Anton used to play for Sunderland where I've got a season ticket , not a patch on his brother biut he did a good pre match routine which is about the only decent thing I can remember him doing.
