Once slept with Rhona Cameron in the early 90's. Nothing happened as you may have guessed.
Played five a side with Arthur Smith and David Baddiel in Battersea Park in the early 90's.
Got dosed with magic mushrooms by the guy who played Tee Jay in Take the High Road in the early 90's. Bad night. Got stuck to the floor as did Sarah my house mate. She hosed herself in situ.
Lived across the road from Howard Jacobson in Clapham. Cool guy. Loved our crazy parties. Other neighbours didn't!
Met Richard E Grant on honeymoon in Nice.
Met Michael Stipe on same honeymoon. My mates didn't believe me until he appeared on a music show in the T-shirt I'd described which said 'Emotionally Unavailable' on it.
Had a drink with Terry Jones from Monty Python in the Castle Hotel in Conwy.
Had a drink with Robbie Coltrane in the bar of the mystery in Wavertree in the late 80's. He was filming The Fruit Machine in Liverpool.
Met Michael Portillo in Conwy when he was doing the train thingy. Nice guy.
Bryn Terfel turned up at a colleagues leaving do in a pub near Caernarfon in North Wales and sang for us. Happenstance.
Met Lemmy when my first wife was catering for him on a UK tour. Star. RIP.
Went out with Paul McCartney's niece for a few dates in the late 80's.

Yep, she was quite attractive. That was before she turned into a big fat tattooed lesbian, obviously. Well she might have always been a lesbian but you know what I mean.

Jesper Gronkjaer bumped into me as he turned round after paying for petrol in Solihull (when he played for Brum I think). Drove off in a very unglam Audi family estate.
Watched a tribute to the late Paul Young, turned out half the bands were staying in the same hotel we were, So sat next to people like Fish, the tall one out of Genesis, the woman that did the Pink Floyd vocals that nurofen used in their advert years ago, the other Paul Young and plenty others I forgot, neither me or my mate had the balls to say hello to any of them..
Met and got a record signed by Spike Edney (Queen's keyboard player).
Did some basic race weekend spannering (and met, several times) for Bobby Verdon Roe (grandson of the guy that created the AVRO company) - not really a celeb outside the motorsport world.
Worked for the marketing director of the Pacific GP company (before Pacific was created) - he claimed on TV they'd be top four by the end of the first season, think they lasted about 6 races before they folded.
Said hello to Ken Clarke about a month ago as he opened a new community hall (I live in his constituency).
Graeme Swann said hello to me once while I was on the school run - he was renting a house near us for a while. See Stuart Broad fairly often, friends are his neighbours, charity caller mistoook him for an England football captain which he didn't really see the funny side of apparently.
Lost touch with friends that knew an ex-girlfriend of Jean Claude van Damme. Some tales (unrepeatable on here)!!
Got stopped in Rodeo Drive by Matthew Mccounaghy's assistant - she asked us if we'd wait and have a picture with him as he was just finishing up buying jewellery for his stster, we waited 5 minutes, then as we'd barely heard of him we wandered off, on the plane on the way back they were showing Sahara. Bit of a d'oh that one.
Waved to Amy Grant on the same trip - she was having a star unveiled. She didn't wave back.

Wife's top tenuous - she once met Fred Dibnah - which I'm insanely jealous about for some reason. She also met a few people from the film Employee of the Month as we were drinking cocktails in the bar opposite the premier, I couldn't be bothered walking over.

I had a Saturday job in a shop when I was a teen 30 years ago and Gavin Sutherland, who wrote "Sailing" (made famous by Rod Stewart), used to come in our shop. Paul McCartney's brother used to come in too.
Mike McGear. It's his daughter I used to date. Benna.

My best mate made a cup of tea for John Cleese when he was filming Clockwise. One location is the grounds of a disused hospital that backed onto my mate's garden. My mate saw JC strolling about in the grounds and said hello over the fence, then offered to make a cuppa. JC chatted about the making of the film and the joys of Grimsby(!), drank his tea, thanked my pal and strolled off to do some more filming.

Thought of some more. More tenuous than the last lot.

Shared a lift with Melvyn Bragg in the South Bank tower.

Said hello to Terry Venables in the Carlton TV reception.

Had a piss standing beside Ken Livingstone in the Barbican Centre (lavs!) during a St Etienne Gig. Still wish I'd pushed him in.

Walked within touching distance of Keira Knightly and Rupert Friend in Kensington Park when they were dating.

Saw that weird-looking BBC Arts bloke with the egghead coming out of Paul Smith in Bond St.

Went down the escalator at Ebbsfleet alongside Nigel Farage one frosty Monday morning about 5 or 6 years ago. He was known then but not as (in) famous as he is now.

Once hitched a lift from the producer of Steven Tin Tin Duffy's song 'Kiss Me With Your Mouth' before it was released - he played us the song on a cassette in the car.

edited to say -

Actually, having googled the producer of the Steven Duffy song 'Kiss Me With Your Mouth' it was somebody else! What a lying bd. I have been dining out on that story for 30 years.

A few off the top of my head:

Answered a call at a friend's house, called turned out to be Michael Palin.

Lewis Hamilton blocked a junction in front of me so I couldn't get out.

Eddie Jordan smiled and waved at me for letting him out of a junction (separate occasion) which is annoying as I can't stand him.

A good friend of mine is very well known in US horse racing and always lets me stay in his spare Manhattan penthouse when I'm over there.

More infamous than famous, but a guy I used to know quite well who received several awards for outstanding bravery in his line of work is currently serving life in prison for murdering his son.

Jack Dee once passed me a newspaper when I was on the tube.

I met Rolf Harris on a train to Manchester when I was about 11 years old. He was (and still is as far as I know) the nicest 'famous' person I've ever met. He took the time to help me draw some doodles and I've still got the framed pics on my wall.

Going back a long way, early 70s, Billy Dainty - if anyone remembers him, came to our school and did some sort of comedy panto type thing in our assembly hall.
My Mum was a dinner lady at the next school along from mine as it were and G*ry Glitters son was a pupil there at the time
At my secondary school in London ex pupils were Roger De Courcey ( Nookie Bear), Jimmy Hill, Junior (Mama Used To say singer), Hywell Bennet. One of the ex teachers became the Green Goddess off early 80s morning TV.
Dennis Waterman live a short way along from that school as well.
David Bowie and Charlie Chaplin lived nearby to the house (basement) i grew up in South London.
After Id moved up to Milton Keynes in the late 70s I became friends with a lad at school who'd also moved up from South London who as it turned out was best mates with my ex best mate from back there, my new mates Dad was Adrian Street the glam 70s Wrestler and his now stepdad was John Kincaid another famous wrestler.

My Mum went to stage school with Dennis Waterman, alas she didn't follow her dream to become a full time dancer, or end up in The Sweeney.

Half way through a round of golf we invited Rod Hull to join our group, instead of playing on his own.. surprisingly he accepted.......he took a few "fresh air shots" but the miserable so and so wasn't best pleased when I suggested his Emu might do better (or words to that effect) silly

I found out this week that a mum of a friend of my sons is in the new "Fantastic Beasts" movie. I spoke to her the other week about the half term homework but now I know she's Hollywood Royalty, I think I might get a bit starstruck if I speak to her about next weeks spellings.

Does anyone have any advice on how to speak to celebrities?

I'm not sure if I should start wearing a hat so I can doff it.
