Shill bidding s on eBay. Found something that I thought I might fancy the other day, forgot to bid on it later in the day so it sold, ahhh well I thought (I'm always doing that), was relisted the next day, along with all the other things he had been selling. Hmmm strange, check completed listings, and everything that had a bid on, the winning bid was by the same person for every item. Checked completed listing on his other items, there were items other multiple people had won, which is fair enough, but sure enough the shill bidder from the first items had been bidding on these items, but obviously his gamble paid off for these items. Item I want is low starting price, stick a penny higher bid in, and boom a couple of minutes later mr shill bidder outbids me again.

Now I know some people do buy things from the same seller all the time, I bid on a series of seperate computer games from one seller for my collection, because I collect them and he had what I wanted, but what this seller was just lots of random stuff, all of which the same guy has bid on them.
Surprisingly it's highly illegal doing that! To me I don't see the issue (annoying yes but not illegal) because its just like bouncing bids off the wall in a real auction and you still bid to a price you want to pay. But I remember a case where a bloke nearly got sent down for it
I've reported it, see if eBay in their infinite wisdom do anything about it, I was always under the impression that they had some sort of algorithm running in the background to detect this kind of thing, it was pretty obvious for me or anyone to spot it though.

I also thought that bidding off the wall was legal in a real auction up until the reserve price? After that it became illegal?

The return of dog pooh to our pavements.

It seems like after years of picking up their pets droppings, its gone back to the 70s/80s round our way. Having to do the pavement slalom again to avoid the giant steaming turds.

As anyone else noticed this or is just the dog owners round my neck of the woods who have returned to the bad old days?

P.S. I do like dogs, just don't like their st all over where I'm trying to walk.

graffiti a free art form is molested by the middle classes to make themselves feel part of the 'scene', when they are killing it with ever pound they spend on a free art.

and Banksy just sums it up, a total sell out.

Guys. Might have said this one before, but being called 'guys' when entering a shop. Worst is Hollister: SWMBO wanted to get something in there for miladdo, so in we go. Twerp inside: 'hi guys, everything OK?'. Twerp arranging rails: 'hi guys, can I help you?'. At the till: 'hi guys, did you find everything you're looking for?'.

Then we go to get something to eat. Girl on the door: 'hi guys, table for two?' Stop with fking 'guys' st all the time. I'm old enough to be your bloody father, not one of your uni mates so show a bit of respect and stop fking addressing me as ''guys' all the fking time. Of course, I was so incensed that naturally I meekly smiled, confirmed everything was OK, I found everything I wanted and that a table for two would be perfect. bds.

As a private hire driver my car needs two MOT's a year (one normal and one taxi test) due to the high miles we drive and the fact it's carrying passengers.

Mine failed (13 plate) because "The spare wheel is not of the same type fitted to the vehicle"
It has a space saver as standard but I have to stick a proper size one in the boot for the MOT even though it's not left in the back as I'll not get any luggage in! The council know this.

wkers.

So now I have to borrow one of a car rendering that car unroadworthy.

Considering that I'd say only about 5% of new cars come with a full size spare now and the majority only come with a tyre inflation kit, that's a bloody stupid rule. You are right to be annoyed on that one.

Dunno about the taxi test but the spare shouldn't be checked for an MOT, i'd get onto VOSA.

Why don't firms use proper telephone numbers. evil
Because it can be cheaper for the company and customer.

How? 0845 "local call rate" numbers haven't been different in terms of pricing for donkeys years since local and distance call rates were merged (BT). That was the primary reason they were introduced in the first place. There's simply no reason to have them now.

I won't deal with companies that don't provide a geographic number either (or via the aforementioned site). I don't see why I should have to pay considerably more money to speak with companies when I'm giving them my business.
