Thought of another one. People who reply at the top of the message rather than the end.

Also, anyone on an internet forum who starts a reply with "Wrong. "

It's rude, obnoxious, confrontational, lacking in social skills and just plain unpleasant. Furthermore, in the case of opinion rather than fact, completely invalid as well.
I agree with that. They're up there with the people who finish their posts 'End thread.'
or **FACT**

Those so called 'witty' quips they use more and more on tv nowadays, mainly house buying programmes, eg;The couple are looking at buying a house overlooking the sea,the presenter will then voiceover-"they'd be daft to let this one sail away from them".

The amount of time it takes for a Sky+ HD box to 'initiate'. I switch the box off in our bedroom at bed time every night because the bloody thing typically starts whirring randomly in the middle of the night (why?????), and as a light sleeper, that annoys me.

Next morning, it's then not possible to switch the bloody thing on and watch the news whilst I'm doing the shower/dressing thing. I'm probably already in the car and on my way out by the time the bloody thing deigns to allow me to select and watch a programme.

Why does it take so bloody long??????

Because when you turn it on, before it can work it has to do all the updates and housekeeping tasks it would normally have done during the night if you hadn't turned it off

From the sounds effects it created I always thought our old freeview recorder did a CHKDSK at 3am, every night.

Now I know that's tosh, because it takes exactly the same amount of time to 'initiate' following very short, seconds-long interruptions in power (which, living where we do, we get fairly frequently) - pretty sure there are no updates to prevent it functioning perfectly well that are due to be applied in those few, randomly-occuring, seconds. Also pretty sure they don't need to apply updates/houekeeping every single bloody night!!

Or am I due the parrot? silly

Partly parrot smile

But remember it is essentially a PC starting up, so has to go through all the checks etc. as it is loading up

Indeed, but it takes five times as long as my bloody PC and laptops, and it has far fewer 'processes' to worry about when doing so.

And when it does finally let you switch it on (when you press 'on' and the light finally flicks to green, rather than orange, [it won't start up on orange, and it stays like that for bloody ages]), it then won't let you select a progamme, telling you instead that 'your Sky box is still initiating, please return later to use this feature'.

It's a badly designed/engineered POS with a very poor UI.

You seem to have answered your own question there.

People who resort to name calling when they disagree with someone else, seems to happen a lot on forums, probably wouldn't in real life.

Ad Hominem (playing the man rather than the ball) doesn't just occur on internet forums though.

And people posting silly and unoriginal pictures in support of their invalid points.

I don't think it's a recognised fallacy, but it should be. If I was better at Latin I would have a go at naming it.

Not knowing which thread to post in about the ClarksonGate scandal.

Also people who put gate on the end of a scandal to make it appear like an official name...

When a woman says "why is it that men do..." - I usually bite my tongue, but have been known to retort "I'm not sure, shall I give all men a call to ask" (women love that (!) )

People that can't follow a simple request are currently annoying me beyond reason.

We went to The Deep in Hull a couple of weeks ago during half term. They have signs up everywhere asking you not to use the flash on your camera phone as (a) it can upset the fish, and (b) your pictures will be st because the flash will just bounce back off the tank.

The signs may as well have been written in Aramaic for all the good they did. When I assume power, this sort of thing will be punishable by a public stoning.

it.
Couldn't agree more.
I genuinely see it as a mental deficiency as though the posters believe a picture is the best way of communicating.
Like a baby, really.

Clearly every book that uses an annotated picture or diagram to explain a point should substitute an extra 1000 words for each one.

A Haynes manual would be one hell of a door-stop though. smile
