People who call there wife/husband/girlfriend/boyfriend, partner, there " other half"

Eh??!! What, are you not a whole person then?? Just sounds a bit needy/insecure- like they live in each others pockets or something.

Considering the thread title I am pretty sure my correction was justified, appreciate the irony?

I'm going to disagree with you about this. I very much require someone as a trusted and loved partner to function correctly in life. Without another person in my life I am incomplete and can never be considered a whole.

But what annoys me is those who can't appreciate that type of thinking. (just to keep things on track biggrin)

Luckily, your opinion of me is unimportant.

I haven't seen this advert, but am surprised that the sending of the daughter is a 'vile' thing to do. Am I misunderstanding something?
Because it's saying "what you're enjoying doing is worthless in my eyes, so I am going to spoil it for you. But, worse, I'm going to make our daughter do the dirty work and teach her that it is ok to do something like that".

Sure, it's just an advert, but it just seems like a rather mean thing to do.

Plus, it annoyed me beyond reason; hence the post. smile
OK, I get it now, I hate that sort of thing myself too.

One that came to me this morning as I was dealing with a large pile of architect's drawings - companies who in order to appear trendy don't use capital letters anywhere!

Ugh this ^^
My local chemist is sign written all over the shop front with no capital letters including the place name, I fancy getting up there on a ladder with some paint one night and correcting it.

Bottles of hand soap topped up with water once they have run out.

Paul O'Neil on BTCC coverage. His voice and face. Especially that raised eyebrow expression when he reads out viewers Tweets/questions.

Mixed units of measurement.

I'm watching MotoGP on ITV4 and one of the commentators has just said (and this is a direct transcription) "It's incredible up that hill; you rise 41 metres in about 150 yards"

Sorry, what?
