Radio stations are annoying me at the moment. Why can't they just play fking music instead of talking st about their personal life? There's a guy on CFM (Carlisle) through the night that NEVER shuts up. I'm not exaggerating, 50% of the "show" is him prattling on about his life. Who the fk cares? irked They're all at it - last night I was across E Yorks and Viking FM was on. The guy on there was having a quiz where listeners have to guess some movie line he does in an Aussie accent. You don't win anything, so who cares and how sad do you have to be to even ring in with the answer? Some bird rang in and got it right, but then it's "what you up to tonight? Where you working? Is it busy? What time do you finish? Is there many people working at the same place?" Why why why ??????? WE DON'T CARE. JUST PLAY THE fkING MUSIC AND STFU!!!!!!!!!!!! I "get" the ads - you need to pay for your station, I "get" the news on the hour - that's all fine, but why talk ste that no-one cares for instead of playing music which is why we are all tuned in. If we wanted a talk show we'd tune to something starting with BBC. mad
Local radio, that annoys me.
Also people who listen to it, complain about it and don't realise other better stations exist or how to use their stereos to change the channel.
Being between the ages of 18 and 40 that rules out both Radio 1 and Radio 2, in fact BBC Radio Anything and Classic FM. The only other station north of Shap on the M6 that can be picked up and that plays music is CFM. irked
Oh you're at that awkward age are you? hehe
I was there, for a while I listened to some of R1s programs and some of R2s in the transitional period.
Surely local radio just play the same as R1 & R2, but with crap DJs and ads? If you're stuck with that play a CD or whatever. Personally I would never ever stoop as low as to listen to local radio, i'd rather eat my own hair.

Why couldn't she have indicated earlier or flashed her lights to let me turn in? She was so far up the road it wouldn't have mattered. I think it's not only the feeling that they are monumentally stupid that gets me, but mainly that they've done it on purpose as they can clearly see you are there and what you are tying to do.

I never heard that one before and in most cases it's probably true.
The other similar scenario is when I'm trying to cross (in my car) a road which has slow moving traffic on it in between two traffic lights the rush hour. Does anyone pause from their 1mph crawl to let me get across? About 10%, the others just roll past or stop in front of me and avoid eye contact.
That isn't stupidity, it's something else...

I got to that age and am now fully transitioned to the BBC - It is a nice comfortable state now although I am now at a Radio 4 stage.

Saying that, I am at Radio 4 as Steve Wright is, somehow, still polluting the airwaves for the afternoon - I can handle Jeremy Vine, in small doses, but Steve Wright and the big show makes me want to reach through the airwaves and club him to death...

^ This - I'm convinced that people who do this only indicate because their instructor told them they had to - they haven't managed to make the great leap in logic to figure out WHY they indicate wink

I'm pretty certain that a very high percentage of people don't have a clue why they need to change gear either!

People who don't indicate when turning left, either on a roundabout or into a side street. Earlier today I was sat waiting to turn right onto the main road and two cars were coming from my right, about 50 yards apart. Yes, you've guessed it, BOTH of them turned into the road I was waiting to turn out of without indicating! You might say it's only 30 seconds lost but it's 30 seconds that could have been avoided. The second lady seemed very confused when I tooted my horn at her in frustration.

Also my work and some of the people that work there. Honestly the job isn't rocket science. Everything you need to do, ask or complete is on the screen in a clearly clickable format yet some still manage to get it wrong. Can I go up and slap them on the back of the head for doing it? No, I have to 'submit feedback' to their Team Leader.
The indicator problem is not "beyond reason". I think it p"sses all decent drivers. It's even more irritating when they put the indicator on AS THEY TURN THE CORNER. Do they think it helps the car go round the bend? It's an operation of the controls which should come as second nature even to someone who's only recently qualified. It's beyond all of us, as to why so many can't be bothered. The same thing applies to people who don't use their indicators when pulling away from the kerb into the traffic flow.
Technically shouldn't you wait until they complete the turn before pulling out anyway?
Just in case they've got their indicator on accidentally and aren't making the turn.

The IAM teach that you should look for signs that they are starting their manoeuvre - the nose of the car dipping to show they are starting to brake, looking for them moving their hands on the wheel as they prepare to turn, whether they are glancing at the turn or looking straight ahead. Basically, indications that they are going to make the turn. They don't advocate waiting until they start the turn, let alone complete it, as you'd never get anywhere.

Other thing to look out for is someone up the chuff of the car about to make the turn, otherwise you might pull out in front of the person making the turn and then get collected by the person behind who is going straight on.

That's in case you're actually intending to turn out into the road rather than go across it, and letting you out would put you in front of them, giving you an advantage. Or in case you're one of those that would pull out and block your nearest lane of traffic while you wait for a gap in the opposite side.

Having said that, this junction annoys me beyond reason.
For some unfathomable reason 90% of cars coming from the left and turning right down Dennis Lane drive right past the first turning of the Y junction and take the second turning (where the black cab is)

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.625557,-0.317356...

This delays everyone driving up Dennis Lane to take the right turn (as the Cab is doing)

Every fking day (except when the schools are off). I just don't understand why they don't take the correct turn.

The additional delay means the odd idiot takes the left branch to turn right, thus delaying the non-cretins even more.

This roundabout and the new roadmarkings:

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Kidbrooke,+Lon...

watch the silver golf on the right. The lane he cuts through is a "turn right" lane, however if he doesn't cut through it and follows the exaggerated lateral path as per the markings he would normally be on a collision path with the camera car. Although in this video the camera car does exactly what it should, but nobody ever does. I really tried following the road markings (honestly I did), but I am tired of having a near collision every morning followed by horn and a wker sign from the other drivers.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAB2HHVQV9w (minute 3:29)

They should have left it unmarked and saved their money. Now it's a bloody nuisance!

My car isn't angled that way, but yes, what I will do now is indicate right then drive straight on. driving

You come across a forum thread, a request for information on a subject that you happen to be particularly expert in. So you post a reply, and give the OP the information he needs. Then there are several other replies contradicting you. And one or more of these are of course the suggestions the OP announces he is going to take up.

LinkedIn.

I must get an invite a day from some recruitment company or other, but today's has particularly wound me up beyond all reason.

His job role, apparently is:

"Helping clients make informed decisions by harnessing the power of LinkedIn"

What? WTF does that even mean? Get a proper job! smash

I also find anytime a standup comedian is given a radio show they feel the need to be constantly funny and not bother playing any music. Frank Skinner on Absolute Radio is a prime example. He prattles on to his "posse" in the studio endlessly with inane drivel. I don't actually mind him on the tv but his radio show is dire.

Any zoo format radio show is annoying too. A DJ surrounded by folk in the studio who laugh at their jokes. (Chris Moyles, Chris Evans, Steve Wright were all guilty of this). It was like listening into a groups private conversation. Everyone talking at the one time too.

And my last rant on radio. DJs who have to suggest what you might be doing when listening to their show. "So if you are just lying in the sun, or maybe doing the ironing or cooking a nice dinner this is the place to stay tuned and listen to some great music...." WTF does it matter what the listeners are doing?

On screen banter between TV hosts which just tries too hard. Makes me wonder who watched it before broadcast and thought it was even remotely funny.
