there you go Mr spelling Nazi

I would also expect professional people to know the difference between 'your' and 'you're'.
It annoys me beyond reason when people get it wrong, although if they do so while criticising other people it does add an amusing element of irony.

Have to say, the first time I came across these shrines was on the Greek Island of Corfu during the early 80s. No
Aye. My dad and I were in Greece in the early 80's and as he drove a hire car far harder than it should be, he remarked to me that the shrines told him to brake harder and earlier at those bends. smile

I must admit that while reading some of the thread about the two guys who were killed when their Seat left the mountain road in Austria (was it Austria?) a few weeks back, I did ponder on the fact that the incident took place just after a brick built monument on the side of the road. I don't know what the monument was for, though.

Once watched a girl film almost the enitre duration of a gig on her mobile phone/compact camera. Holding the camera above her head and looking up at the screen, watching the gig through a 2.5" TFT screen, for what? A bunch of grainy videos with atrocious sound quality. I've been there and filmed gigs using my old phones before, was worthless and I soon stopped. What happened, she probably ended up watching them once, realising the video quality and lighting was rubbish, and that sound quality was so st she didn't even know what songs were being played on half the video's. Could have just stood there and watched the actual gig with her own eyes and got a better view.
I've done the same at gigs, used to record them or take videos, but they're always unwatchable. I was surprised to see so many at the ELO gig last year, wondering why these people are filming the gig when it's on TV and there's just a chance that the BBC HD coverage will be a little better quality than the mobile phone footage.

Same as the people taking their own photos of world-famous monuments like the Eiffel Tower or the Taj Mahal if you ask me. What's the point?

There are already countless better photographs of these places taken by better photographers on better cameras freely available.

Because it would have me or someone I know in the picture, not some random stranger.

And:

"Look this is where I went on my hols"
"Ooh, great pic!"
"Yeah I know, I didn't take it, I just found it on the 'net"
"Um, ok".

For some reason I had always pictured you as a blonde, but think I prefer you with dark hair.

Recruitment Agents trying to be clever.

Let's skip straight past the usual annoyances like initiating an email with "RE: " on the subject line to make it look like an ongoing conversation, and go straight for the one I have just received now...

"We are the Microsoft Borg. Lower your shields and surrender your creativeness. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Resistance is futile"

Seriously?

Christ knows. But after that it reverts to a more conventional spiel about recruiting both senior and junior C# developers for a company in Sutton.

Why do you need to have yourself or someone you know in the picture though?

You know you went there because you have the memory in your head. Do you think that other people might not believe you went to Paris and you'll be able to whip out a photo as proof?

No-one wants to see other peoples' holiday snaps anyway. It's only mildly less boring than hearing about their dreams.

It's sometimes nice to look back at an old holiday album. Sure you can remember the holiday but the photos can remind you of other things you may have forgotten.

I wouldn't ever assume that my friends will want to see my holiday snaps any more than I want to trawl through theirs but for my own enjoyment I'll keep taking pictures on my holiday.
