On my father's knee. He did a great impression of the Goons song. I still have his original 78rpm vinyl disc of this.
I also heard it only from my dad - he used to regularly sing it as I was growing up. A friend had the 78 from his own dad, and played it to me some time in the 1980's and that is the only time I have heard the original.
I suppose I could go on YouTube right now and hear it again if I wanted. The joy of the modern world.
News programmes having segments which are trailers masquerading as news; for example, I'm watching the poltroon Oliver pontificate on Channel 4 News about sugar intake in a segment about the documentary about sugar intake which will doubtless be shown later this evening.
Is it a fking slow news day? No, but clearly they can't be arsed doing their job.

Any TV programme that shows a snippet of something dramatic coming up later in the show, at the very beginning.
Worst examples are cooking shows, where they say ' coming up' and then you see something falling over or not setting correctly.
Can't we just watch the show without having to be shown what's 'coming up' later?

Sadly not. Because the ADHD generation viewer may well have channel surfed away by then. Also, since advert breaks are so long that even the most interested may not stick through the breaks, they also need the interminable recap at the other end of the ad break too.
If the ads weren't so long then they wouldn't need "Coming Up" or "Previously". But also they wouldn't be able to stretch out a 30 min show to an hour either.

Mine is staying, as is the one on my bike.
Fair enough. But, just to satisfy my curiosity, why?

No reason really, I just like it. For the near 25 years I have been driving they have been part of the car and I think they should be brought back because now it is not obvious who is taxed and who isn't.

Fair enough. I was genuinely interested in the answer. I notice that the press had some piece recently on some "enterprising young lad" and his Kickstarter campaign to offer facsimile tax discs as reminders to people as to when their tax is due and to show others that their car is taxed. As if this is some kind of USP, and as if anyone with a computer and a colour printer couldn't print out something similar themselves if they so wished.
