A personal bugbear is people on the F1 forums who speak in "TV graphics" eg "If HAM does X...", or "when MSC did Y...", "ALO must be getting frustrated...", "VET is getting the better of RAI...".

Why? Just why?
Because it's less typing when posting during a live race where posts are time sensitive?

I don't do it myself, but it doesn't particularly bother me when other people do it because I know who they are referring to as it's same as the letters being used on the TV screen and the Live Timing and I have an IQ that is in triple figures. wink
And those who do it when there isn't a live race? And when was "MSC" last used on TV?

Rugby.

It hates football with a passion and its whole reason for being is to be better than football. Tell someone you don't like rugby and their reply is always "yer, but it's better than football". We're not talking about football, we're talking about rugby. Such is their dislike of football that their competition involving what few countries actually play it has almost exactly the same format as the game they so dislike.

Football.....because its played by Nancey boys who FAKE it and cheat like fk even on camera at the World Cup.
Oh my knee! .....roll on floor like you have been shot !....
football - 90 minutes of pretending you're injured.
rugby - 80 minutes pretending you're not.
Once again, rugby is using the failing of another, unrelated sport, to justify its own existence.

It's not like rugby players don't cheat either. Say what you like about football players, they don't take props onto the field of play to con the referee https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloodgate

Rugby player undoubtedly do get hurt, but as a runner, the types of stretching and ligament injuries that footballers get make me cringe.

Question: Do ANY footballers have an education above primary school ?....just asking

Why does it matter what education a footballer has and how does that help him play football and what has that got to do with rugby?

No, your the one doing that.....funny that YOU raised that question, Rugby has zero need to compare with Soccer except for the laughs it gives that is..
We all fall like that don't we smile

When Rugby players/staff are caught, they get banned....footballers become role models.

Education ?.....don't need it Miss, what to be a footballer when I grow up (99,999% go directly to MacDonalds)

It's probably better for a footballer to be, shall we say, somewhat un-intellectual? When the ball is anywhere near the opposition's goal, then there isn't time to weigh up options and choose the best one in the way in which an intelligent person would, it's time to slam it in the direction of the goal and hope it goes in.

McDonalds, you muppet.

I play and watch both. They are different sports, get the fk over it. The drug abuse in rugby is ridiculously high, the sport is full of scandal.

(I'm not saying football isn't, I just have first hand experience of rugby's secrets)

Anyway, back on topic - something that annoys me beyond reason is people who take over a thread with a lengthy discussion that belongs in its own thread. smile

Attitude of a footballer it seems....feeling inadequate ? (quite glad that by default I miss the spelling of the "burger chain")

You bring up a subject, talk angry and try to make a limited connection into a bigger one, yes there is connection and comparisons CAN be made, as there is between Tennis and Squash as example.....Ball/Field/Finance/Team Sports.

I have to say other than laughing at them and the normal "Team Supporter" discussions, not much is said about Soccer down in our club bar...work,women,drinking and cars when not Rugby, like most men we are limited.

They DID win the BoB single handed, hence all the stuff on TV.

Yes, all the fuss this week has been because it was the 75th anniversary of the most important week in the "battle". There'll be other anniversaries of other events in the next few years. El Alamein, anybody?

Not having a scroll wheel on a mouse....geeze that gets me.
That, and being legally bound to read every post in a thread.

Driving instructors who choose the most stupid places to make their learner do a 3 point turn, or the reversing into a junction manoeuvre. Locations that no driver with a choice (and brain) would choose.

Fleet Air Arm had very limited aircraft ATT, thus were not really part of it as a unit, pilots were seconded to RAF units however. Poles and French, US, Canadian, Aussie etc were also seconded or enlisted into RAF.

804 and 808 NAVAL air sqdns flew in the B o B. Baders own wingman was a FAA pilot not a crab. 56 FAA pilots flew in the B o B altogether. Making the FAA pilots, the few of the few!

Plus, people forget the other countries that had pilots in the RAF, the Polish being a good example.

Still, an amazing feat, given that most pilots were 18-20 odd.

The bombers always had my admiration, night after night going out, freezing cold, for hours and hours, knowing that 1/3 wouldn't return, people you ate and slept with. My dad can still remember watching them form up and leave, an entire net covering the sky, and early dawn, seeing them return with huge gaps.

I had this the other day "But why dont you just turn up there, reverse out and go the other way?" Because there's a perfectly good roundabout 1/4 mile up the road that doesnt involve crossing 2 lanes of heavy traffic then trying to get back out again?
