I hate it when people axe me questions and they aren't pacific about what they want.

If you're ever having issues with low blood pressure, have a look on e-bay for "chester draws"

A friend always pronounces 'kettle' as 'keckle', and her first car was apparently a Ford Angular.

Ooh, I love this thread! Most of us would never dream of correcting someone's mistakes to his or her face, so this is a great way to get minor irritations off your chest.

So, now I'm warming to the theme, here are a few of my 'favourites':

off of

'providing' instead of 'provided'

nucular

sikth

texing

'innovative' pronounced 'innivitive'

mad

If you're referring to speaking, I can't think a way of saying sixth that doesn't make it sound very like 'sikth' phonetically in normal speech. You have to be a massive pedant to pick someone up on that.

I have a collegue who writes "specific" but says "pacific". Weird.
I worked with a girl who did that- One day I just added "Other oceans are available" onto the end of her inane wittering.

I should try that biggrin

This guy also buys stuff online from amAzon (stressing the middle a, pronounced as is "has") which always causes a few smirks in the office.

I notice that if the poster can't be arsed to push the capital key for the letter i (as in i would like to say) then it is highly likely you will get a loose/lose, brought/bought or break/brake, and there is no chance that you'll get the correct form of their/they're/there.

As the OP said - people have obviously learnt to write and presumably have been taught the correct form of there etc so why not use the correct form? Perhaps they're a bit fik.

The Ford Anglia from the '60s (as in the Harry Potter film) was very angular.
