My wife is probably more intelligent than me but when it comes to technical stuff she astounds me with some of the stuff that seems to go through her head when it comes to technical matters.

The carpet is up at the moment, we had a new fire fitted, the fitters got some soot on it which was duly hoovered up, she now wants new underlay in case the soot migrates up through the carpet and makes it go black, the underlay isnt black, so not sure how it will do that, even when cleaned ?

She was concerned about the calor gas cylinder in the shed and how it would be a danger in a fire, I asked why that was of more concern than the gas in the pipes, in the house, the tanks of Petrol in the cars etc ?

The printer, it has two wires, one for the electricity, one for the letters, I get her ranting it wont work and invariably have to plug the USB lead in.

There is more, just cant remember it just now, is your OH like this ?

She told me a tale of losing the back of her ear-ring in a keyboard, and how she used a pen to fish it out.

"That would have been a good idea!" Was what she remarked when I suggested that she could just have turned the keyboard upside-down.

It's not just wimmins who are daft, it's 'people' in general.
Many seem to have forgotten basic problem solving or even thinking.

You people are lucky. My wife's mental, I'd take dumb every day of the week.

I don't have a wife yet.

However, when talking to the fiancee the other day she told me that now we are getting a house together, she is looking forward to the marriage.

In my case, it's because I'm with a woman. She can't be my husband or man (unless she has something stitched on). smile

Sharp at a tack, my Wife, pragmatic, logical and reasonable 99% of the time. Then there's the 1% which just confuses the hell out of me, she'll make the bed, just to immediately get into it - she leaves for work at 6am, I get up about 7:30, I used to make the bed, but whichever way I do it is just shades of wrongness, she returns home at 9pm after 14-15 hours on her feet exhausted, dinner is on the table ready to go - I'm good like that, then we'll head up, she'll spend 20 mins making it perfectly, mirror smooth, completely symmetrical and the second it done, she'll unfold it all and get in.

Unless that was the conversation that lead to her being his fiancée?

Of course. That is why I put the smiley up.

What made me eek was the way she said it in a commanding tone. I.e., this is the way we are getting married sonny. We'll do it how I want.

I was enquiring as to whether other men (predominantly male forum) have the same impression of females, not being sexist, but there are differences.

Men get other stuff wrong, stuff that comes natrually to women, this isnt about how awesome blokes are and how silly women are as I dont see it like that, in fact I sometimes get dissapointed when women play the "nothing but a silly girl card" or the "blonde" one as they are letting their side down.

Because men don't care if they are offensive.

Also I suggest you avoid French. Massively sexist language.

Me either. I just thought that a negative sweeping generalisation about men would be appreciated by anyone offended by their interpretation of the thread.

My rolleyes action is where a woman whacks the temperature control up to maximum thinking it will warm up the car/house/cooker more quickly.

The look of uncomprehending contempt they give you when you try to explain is pretty dispiriting as well.

A while ago, I posted a thread linking the male/female brain 'tests' on the BBC website, and many of the more open minded PH men were quite happy to find they excelled at 'traditionally female skills' and vice versa.

Yes, there are differences (nature or nurture?) but endlessly classifying people according to perceived gender traits and behaviours (which do seem to be misogynist) gets tedious, surely even for you superior men? biggrin

(Awaits more 'man hater' comments frown. ).

I am actually not a misogynist and dont like men who are, it does work both ways as well, but you are correct it shoudltn always come down to gender.

I am not one of those people that are prod about being male, British, white or whatever, it just happened, seems strange to get all puffed up about stuff you had no choice in and cant change.

But the differences do interest me, I suppose it could be the same with other males but it was my wife specifically that somtimes confuses me despite being smarter than I, she can park the car better than me, better at flat pack furnitire and can control the central heating better.

I think a lot of it is nurture/influence, that why some perpetual batchelors can be a little strange and have questionable personal hygeine.

I suppose whilst us chaps can still change wheels, remove spiders and unblock bogs we will be allowed to stick around.
