Life is boring.
I've flown fighters off aircraft carriers, sailed the Pacific, done the Hobart race 7 times, raced up to F1, & still hold a Bathurst F2 lap record, ridden show jumpers, & eventers, raised a family, & lived & worked in some of the most beautiful places on earth
There was always something I couldn't wait to do. Now I can't think of a single thing I still really want to do, that this clapped out old body could handle, other than going for a run in one of the cars. Getting old is a bit#h.
At least you have the satisfaction of knowing you did all those things. Millions of people can only ever dream of doing a fraction of the things you have. In fact, now my son, the great fabricator, is home for a while I'm going to get him to modify the engine crane. If it can lift a lot higher, & with an electric winch, they could hall me up & lower me into the Honda S2000, in the way they used to get those medieval knights in their shining armour, onto their horses.
I can still get most of me in, but the short door makes it difficult some days, when the right hip & knee don't want to bend, to get that last bit in.
If I had a remote for the winch I might be able to do it myself. I then wouldn't have to worry the little bugger would leave me hanging around, once he got me up there.

The Telegraph article on it has some peachy lines as well:
I'd say Lidl and Aldi are certainly very high profile at the moment. Most of the bigger supermarkets seem to be losing sales every time they post results and Lidl / Aldi are certainly always mentioned. It's not like it's a drop in centre for Lithuanian sex offenders they're opening - it's a supermarket.Conservative councillor Sheila Woodyatt said:
"I am absolutely certain there are those who think Aldi and Lidl are wonderful stores - my daughter shops there - but I just hoped if we had to have a store it would be Waitrose or Booths.
"I know it makes me sound like a terrible snob,..."
"I went to a Lidl and Aldi once and filled my trolley, but at that time they did not accept cards and I had to leave the trolley and say 'sorry I can't pay for it.' I think it is very unfortunate. I would much preferred to see a higher profile store."

2-3 miles away yes great. 300 yards away not so much. That's from my house.
I was going to post about Netto-gate but you beat me to it!I pity you only living 300m away from it. I think I have at least a 500m buffer, across a field as well, from the unwashed that will be frequenting this excuse for a store
Steve
I've run out of space in my glass cabinets to display my model cars. As such, some will have to remain in their boxes undisplayed.
Edit to add - even worse, I have too many shirts for each to have their individual hanger and fit in the wardrobe. Consequently, I've had to put 4 or 5 shirts per hanger and it's causing them to be a little creased. Very annoying.

It's more "down to earth" than Waitrose. Some good quality meat (e.g. salt marsh lamb), good cheese counter and some local produce when in season. Good beer (esp British) selection. Not as cheap as Lidl, but not that expensive. Also supposed to be fair to their local suppliers, which makes a change for supermarkets, though clearly they don't have the buying power of Lidl, Tesco, etc.

A filling station in my village closed and the land sold to a developer. The proclamation was that an premium supermarket was going to be taking it over. Rumours abounded over months about waitrose, M&S, booths... Everyone getting very excited. Until yesterday it was announced that it would be Netto. Let's just say there are lots of unhappy NIMBYs and lower middle class people who think they deserve better. 'Up in arms' doesn't quite describe.
Lymm was ruined years ago when all the big housing estates were built, a Netto can only improve it IMO.had ham said:

I only ever wear T shirts (I know, it's a denial thing) but both my maids insist on putting them on hangers, rather than folded flat on the shelf.
How can I have the correct creasing in my Walmart Fruit Of The Loom 3-for-$10 T shirts if they are hanging up?????
And why are my maids over 45? Aren't maids mean to be young and pretty?

Now we have no-one to look after Casa Herald when we take our planned cruise to the Bahamas in July. The aunt in New York gave us the cruise for looking after both her sisters while they grew old and died on us.
