Sorry people, it is seriously that time again.

A pretty vicious low pressure north of Scotland brings a chance of snow in the Scottish mountains next weekend!!!

This thread has cheered me right up after the bank holiday weekend!

I can’t stand the summer: too hot in the day – and you can’t sleep at night, flies and wasps getting in your face, lobster red, wobbly fat flesh on display everywhere you look, can’t get a seat outside my local to have a smoke in peace as it’s full of loud fair weather drinkers and their screeching children, pictures of people crowded on to every square centimetre of every beach in the country in the paper (they always look like sausages under a grill to me), grown men wearing sandals and shorts... No, you can keep your summer as far as I’m concerned.

Give me a bitterly cold winter’s day and I’m a happy (well, marginally less miserable) chap!

(Darkness it shall be).

hehe

Mine are in the garage on stands, as they are EVERY year at this time....

I don't fancy clearing snow in our temporary rental house as the drives long and on a slope. My new house, under construction, only has a short, flat drive. smile

It's odd at this time of year (for me) to see pics from a mate who lives in Victoria that he and his family go skiing every weekend at the moment.

fk off with the snow for a few months. We're still trying to get a completion date for our new place & it needs a LOT of work doing to be ready for winter.

Extreme weather in general can fk off! And lets not get those tedious bds on PH started, who every winter pray for crap weather so they can test out their special tyres - it's akin to wishing for a nasty illness so that you can test out the effectiveness of a drug to battle it - most odd.

I have a different car now to last year, the old ZX plodded on fine through all sorts of crap weather on pretty worn stty tyres. Hope the XM will cope just as well, even with its automatic gearbox...

Maybe I will work from home more if it snows

Yay! Baseball bat under my bed. Doors locked. Alarm set.

Bring on the burglars!

I like a bit of snow for the fun factor every so often, but looking forward to using special tyres and rock salt? Really??

Until recently our driveway was a 45 degree, north facing slope. Last year I parked the car on the drive, went in the house and it slid onto the road... rock salt was a requirement!

We purchased winter tyres for the first time last year and they were great. The vast majority of roads are now cleared where we live, so it's worthwhile if you want to keep moving.

My plan:

Buy a range rover whilst they are cheap

Wait for snowmagedon

Drive down to England and sell it to the people who can't drive for about 3k profit.

Work has bought one of these, along with a plough, a salt spreader and a trailer!

Mod note: I've removed the pic as it was throwing a malware warning.

The one we've bought is a 400cc - Interestingly, I was approached (even though I'm in IT!) to find the right quad for us. The deal was, I find it, I'm allowed to ride it too. The quad is on it's way to us now smile

Well, I don't need any snow to have some fun on it in the surrounding fields! biggrin
