You know how it goes. You get the germ of an idea in your head and then someone on PH is selling one so you accidentally buy it the week before Christmas and drive it home in a gale. These things happen!

It won't be the daily through the snow though, I've got a far more suitable daily snotter for that.

I'll look forward to seeing that on the Skipton bypass!

Glad to see the winds and rain easing a bit for tomorrow afternoon, I'm collecting a new (classic) car which I've got to drive from Peterborough back up to the Yorkshire Dales. This is a car that even in period was said to be 'lethal' in the wet.

Hey ho.
pics or it didn't happen...

smile

seriously... drive safe mate.
If you see one of these on its roof on the A1 tomorrow afternoon please stop and hand me a Marlboro Light.

I live near Peterborough. Can you swing past and let me have a look?

I haven't for a while been braving the route through glusburn but come the better weather I will be, plus I was in danger of getting banned on the A59! That road is too fast.

Agreed, got my worst ever collaring on the A59, ended up in court looking like a right plonker!

Anyway, sorry chaps, back to the snow.

Hmmm, met office talking of potential SURPRISE SNOW in elevated areas of central southern England on Thursday. Schmalex, know anyone who lives in such an area?

How do you predict surprise snow? If you can predict it then surely it's not a surprise....

Fair comment - but I'm not certain it will be broadcast far and wide, and with the current temperatures it will surprise people smile

It might not even happen hehe

I give it 40:60 against it snowing. If it snows, I give it 60:40 in that area (at elevation only, though)

More importantly, and most worryingly, is the potential storm that will tracking across Southern England on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Current models are showing a 920mb low (which is really bloody low pressure) and associated extremely strong winds that will be well into damage inducing realms. There's a good chance that this will be tempered as the date draws nearer, but nevertheless, it is something to keep an eye on.

News 24 weather reports snow in Scotland and N. Ireland tomorrow. Then, later across central England during rush hour. Possibly reaching into London.

Im spending christmas in Montrieul, just south along the coast from Calais. Can I assume the weather will be the same as the south coast of England?

Broadly, yes. However, it depends where low pressures may be situated, as any snow is looking likely on the Northern edge of the LP's, so whilst Southern England could see snow, it may very well fall as rain in Northern France...

Serious, serious wind and rain just hit Belfast. I'll be shocked if there's no flooding.
