Serious, serious wind and rain just hit Belfast. I'll be shocked if there's no flooding.
That's just the start. There's a lot more heading in from where that came from over the next 48 hours.

Already a few inches on the road outside the office. Getting home should be fun tonight and to top it off I've to come back in later on for a meal with some friends.

We have a lovely glass front two stories high, I'm just waiting on a branch from one of the many trees across the car park to come through.

Woman killed in Westmeath already and the Cork train station roof didn't put up much of a fight either.

Met Éireann have a red alert out for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo.

That's absolutely brilliant. I'd love to find a way to turn that into an autoupdating live desktop background (like on Android phones.)
And the direction etc seems to be spot on, judging by the hammering I took when out for a run when out in the hills just now. Horizontal rain, 50mph gusts...genuinely love being out in weather like that, provided I'm warm enough.

Can we change this to the official 2013/2014 gale thread instead? irked

Just been out to corral my dustbin as I don't really want it bouncing off the van. Shame I can't round up all my neighbours ones as well, but hey...

I used some paracord and a carabiner a couple of weeks back to secure my bin to a drain pipe. A 2 second job to release and an extra 10 feet to walk was apparently far too much work for the local bin men.

I'd be well up for gales and snow though - I can live with a longer drive home if it feels like a bit of an adventure driving in whiteout conditions. I'm guessing the chances of that are fairly slim though frown
