Ours was getting a bit flickery two evenings ago. Is that warning just for wind or for rain too?

Great. Our electricity supply waxes and wanes in even the slightest breeze.

I hope it can see fit to stay on long enough for us to cook the ham and goose

Great. I'd better get on and work out why the rain was coming in through a two foot wall the other day. irked

There was a few snowy flurries yesterday on the a66, just after the highest point I spotted an Audi on its roof at the side of the road, people were just stood at the side waiting for a truck (think it was an Audi) temperature had dropped about 4 degrees in a few miles.

severe frost south of Newbury- saw a pheasant slip over on the way into work.....

5 miles away there's not a hint of a frost.....

weird
The road between Chievely and Peasemore was sheet ice in places, made for an interesting drive to work!
Pangbourne was equally as slippery. The back roads were good fun - not a hint of grit? Authorities caught napping again, or saving their supplies for snowmaggedon?
Looks like a few of us are in/around the Newbury area...had a VERY slippery moment in the Subaru this morning just past Douai Abbey...the Range Rover driver in front was genuinely taken aback when the RR carried on straight as opposed to going around the corner[!]

Who wants some good news? Chances of a white Christmas are rising! (yet another) Storm due to pass by through Christmas Eve, and like yesterday, cooler air will get pulled in behind it. Chances are still slim, and altitude will count for a lot.

On the flip side - storm on the 23/24 Dec is starting to look worrying:

Think it's already here! It's gone darker than it was 3 hours ago when the sun rose!

Talking of shortest days... There's a chap I know doing the Celtman extreme triathlon today - just him and his support (who does bits with him). Started at 5 a.m. with a swim across a sea loch (in a gale, in the dark), now on a 90k cycle (in a gale) then 42k run over a 3000+ ft hill (in a gale, in the dark).

Madness!

Just him? No other entrants/competitors? That's bloody awesome!

He definitely deserves to win wink

Just him. He came third (out of 162) in July when the official one was run. Thought it'd be a good idea to try it on the shortest day. Bonkers.

Bright blue sky and sun today, its a rather lovely smile
No need for scarf or gloves but Bavarian Fedora is standard wear now. Forecast is for clear blue skies on the Zugspitz tomorrow aswell . Hurrah!

Thanks Steve. That looks fantastic, love the look of the swim & cycle. Great photos as usual. Good luck to him. Can you update his times at some point if you don't mind? Thanks again smile

Installed the Snow Radar app for the first time yesterday. Had a bit of a play and mentioned to Mrs F that it looks as if it will utterly piss it down in half an hour or so.

Sure enough started in 20 minutes and a tad later it was indeed teeming down.

Old hat to you lot obviously.
