It's very powerful. Only the rear wheels touch the ground.

The rears are impressively wide @ 265 so I didn't bother photographing the fronts.

I am, as ever, making zero concession for Snow.

In the 15 years I have been driving I can recall snow to have settled to more than 1cm for more than a few hours for 3 winters (admittedly recent ones), I have been forced to turn back exactly once, not a complete failure per-se, just that the effort to reach work (30 miles away) outweighed my enthusiasm to do so. I spent a lovely day drawing pictures and telling stories with my Son.

I now work 3 miles from Home, there are only two routes available, one over a mountain road which will be impassable by anyone in 'proper snow', Bear-fking-Grills couldn't get over there with a sled and a pack of huskies so winter tyres aren't going to make any difference, the other route is entirely by major A-road which will be either - Open and clear, or closed.

My Wife's car on the other hand is a different story, she has to go to work no matter what, if she can't make it Mountain Recuse are sent to help, but they don't always help getting home again.

Still despite the last few years, I can't escape the feeling that it'll be like almost everyone other horrible winter, dark, cold and drizzly when I leave for work, the same on the way home and grey, murky and miserable in between.

That's ok then - forecasts have changed and the Scottish mountains will remain at 5oC, so no snow!

As you were, back to the summer thread please smile

Stalker! tongue out

I've a motorbike one, good for when in the kitcar as it stops my hair getting blown forwards into my face.

Disco recovery is for when I have my usual "watch this" moment and get it stuck. Again. My mate dave with his defender 90 is getting good at winching me out of whatever hole I've got stuck in.. hehe

Anyway, oh glorious weather overlords.
Have read on another car forum that snow and cold is a possibility for mid October times. Any truth pug and schmalex?
In still sunning myself in Mallorca, so haven't had a look at the charts for a few weeks now.

Historical data suggest that an exceptionally warm summer precedes an exceptionally cold winter, so there may be some possibility. The last time I looked at the really long range charts, there were suggestions of Northern Blocking starting to form early, which is, again, a positive sign for cold lovers.

However, we've been lucky enough to have a few coldish winters in a row, so maybe it's time for a warm one...

Right now, I wouldn't like to make a call, as we are still a little early for consistent trends to become apparent.

I fervently hope we get a bhin' winter though!!

Lovely and sunny this morning, but definitely a chill to the air that hasn't been around for a while.

Central warehouse have started sending the snow shovels in at work, guess they think we will start selling them again soon, just waiting for all the lawn mowers to be called back and the oil filled radiators to stat coming back in.

Exacta Weather are forecasting a proper mini Ice Age / snowmaggedon winter (although, they do tend to go the sensationalist route, so a pinch of salt is needed while reading it). I'll post up the .pdf of their paid for forecast when I'm back on a PC. There is also a lot of talk amongst the weather pros of this being potentially a very hard winter.

I hope they are not wrong. In the meantime, fingers crossed for a stunning Autumn....
