Look, you steal someone's property then you pay the penalty if you're caught. He can be passive all he wants but the big guy seemed in no doubt that he'd stolen it. The smaller guy was lucky not get a proper kicking.

First, you don't know that the little guy stole the phone. The big thug who "seemed in no doubt" doesn't know it either. It went missing - he believes - some time after the little guy visited him.

Secondly, even if it's true, the 'penalty' as you put it doesn't fit the crime. Violence is an escalation too far. Always. You know it is; you know why? Because if you had a choice of being the victim of one of these two crimes, you'd choose the theft.

And lastly, this so-called justiceporn entertainment phenomenon is one big circle jerk: you, Tampon and this commenter on the YT video: "It's obvious that Mike did steal the phone. I've met many people who reacted the same he did, and most of the times they are relentless and stubborn and will never admit to their crime."
