Basically the dog has been trained to hopefully sniff out the passengers before they leave the airport & return their lost items. Most passengers don't even realize they have lost anything!

He overshot the landing ramp, by a long way meaning a much heavier impact. Lucky to come away without breaking anything. they are all nuts though!
