Strange, I met these guys in Egypt after climbing Mt Sinai last year. Glad to see they have finally put the film together.

If I remember my chemistry correctly (and since it bears, as part of the title, 'wet charge') I would guess there was moisture present in the vessel the molten steel was being poured into. The intense heat/energy causes any water present to disassociate into the rather explosive mix of Hydrogen and Oxygen which subsequently goes bang.
