Looks like the aft most crane started slipping and started it all off, what a cock up.

I'm no civil plant engineer, but did they have those two cranes on a barge? I'm very suprised something of that weight was being lifted from a basically unstable platform.

The bridge section was due to be floated further down the river whilst hanging from the cranes before being put into place.

I think it went wrong when one crane took too much load and they lost control of it. Would have been a similar result (both cranes collapsed) on dry land. The barge just added to the carnage
