You've never heard of threads? Jesus how old are you lot.
I'm in my 40's and had never heard of it either.
I refer whenbthat came out. There was anvamerican film that came out the same year.
Back then it was all people talked about.
Also gets talked about a lot when bleak films or post apocalyptic films are mentioned. Was on one of those TV programs the other day about the 80s

My mum wouldn't let me watch it smile all people talked about is right. It was one of (TV) events. School next day, everybody else in the evening , it was In the national news, I've even read that it caused so many people to be upset that it changed politics, people joined protests etc.

It's possibly not the most uplifting Sunday afternoon film. There's a reason it was banned. You have been warned.
No mention of a ban on wiki?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Threads
Strange. I'm sure I'd heard the reason for the 18 year gap between it's second ever broadcast & the third in 2003 was a ban of some description.

There were previous films banned. The American film a few years earlier was requested by government not to be shown as they feared mass suicides or something

Can't stand the music but can completely respect his skill. Incredible, makes it look easy doesn't he?

He sure does. The tunes are right up my street but I can understand why they wouldn't appeal to some.

Hells bells, that's not the place you want to go over the bars. Very lucky to walk away from that.

It edges *just* that little bit too far into metal for me. I love Dream Theater for example but they don't go quite as heavy as that.

I think it's marketing hokum. I can't see billions of people straining on the toilet for the last however many years since the invention of the 'Western' toilet not asking questions about why they can't st properly without their doctors telling them of this medical 'fact'. Besides, if it's all about the relative angle of your thighs to your torso, you can acheive the same by simply leaning forwards at 45 degrees whilst on the throne.
You think it's a 'fact.'? It's probably less than a billion too.

wiki said:
The positions and modalities of defecation are culture-dependent. The natural and instinctive method used by all primates, including humans, is the squatting position. Squat toilets are still used by the vast majority of the world, including most of Africa, Asia and the Middle East. The widespread use of sit-down toilets in the Western world is a recent development, beginning in the 19th century with the advent of indoor plumbing.

Bockus' Gastroenterology, the standard textbook on the subject, states: "The ideal posture for defecation is the squatting position, with the thighs flexed upon the abdomen. In this way the capacity of the abdominal cavity is greatly diminished and intra-abdominal pressure increased, thus encouraging the expulsion of the fecal mass."
People can obviously st on the western toilet, but it is so much easier when one squats. Try it, winkbiggrin

I saw a Ronnie Pickering clip on HIGMNFY (yes I'm sure it's already been posted, couldn't give a fk). Watched the whole thing from an above link.

Watching that again I'm reminded that Ronnie Pickering is a massive , despite the protestations of friends and family that he's a 'nice guy'.

Dam right the music was annoying! A good knee on leg will slow him down in the ruck of course! I would hate to play against him for sure!
