That's bread and butter work for a watchmaker (not the Patek! ). I quite like watching the videos of Roger Smith as he shows how he makes some components for his watches:

Or another watchmaker's watchmaker, Steffen Pahlow. Though his vids are probably slightly less fun than watching paint dry to anyone who isn't a watchmaker and most who are. Here is his improvement on the Earnshaw style detent chronometer escapement tourbillon :
