I got a set of cordless Babyliss ones from Tesco. Cost the same as two visits to the barber and are going fine after 2 years. Full set of combs with them as well as scissors and oil.

Another vote for Wahl here too. I use the Wahl Clip and Rinse 9639-017X (bought from Argos for £23) and no complaints, rechargeable too or you can leave the lead in for when you get half way through a haircut and it runs out hehe To be honest, if it lasts 3 haircuts (it's lasted many many more), then I'm saving money biggrin

Scherna ceramic bladed ones, can be used cordless or plugged in. Bought the first pair about 10 years ago and a backup pair a couple of years after that. Have just started using the backup ones.

WAHL Super Taper..... buy once!!

Yes, mine are still going strong over 15 years later with no repair or replacement parts needed. If they died tomorrow, I'd buy another one. (if I couldn't fix them)

Been using these for over a year; quiet, powerful and not silly expensive. Battery lasts well too.

Can the public readily buy ones of the same quality as professionals use? How much would they cost? (more than happy with my £14 home use ones, just curious)

Mine is 12 Years old, still going strong. Bought from Argos after the hairdresser started chatting me up, not realising Mrs TR7V8 was sitting behind her! biggrin

I bought a set of Wahl corded ones 18 years ago and they lasted 17 years. Replaced them with exactly the same which is still in production, for a reason.

They were about £50 from what i remember.

Mrs got hers from the wholesalers i think but they didnt cost a packet ( or so she said ). They are slightly different from onces ive seen in shops etc. Some of the girls who worked for her had shop bought ones.

I got a cheap set so i can cut my dogs hair, The main difference ive seen in mine and the ones the Mrs has is how noisey the clippers are cheap ones are loud as feck and seem to vibrate more. Simply just feel a lot better in your hand.

Clippers normally vibrate because they haven't been adjusted properly, my wahl ones have a screw on the side that you have to play about with every now and then to get them perfect.

Any recommendations?

Anyone got a set that does a really close cut with no guide on it?

My current set of Philips doesn't seem to cut that close, so I end up cutting my hair every 4 days.

Has a Babyliss model that I kept until blunt which were great, but no longer manufactured. (Saw them on clearance sale in Tesco for a fiver a set a couple of years ago, should have bought enough to last me a lifetime.curse)
Try Wahl Balding Clippers. Blades have almost no overlap - can be used with guides also. I've a pair and they're great

Maybe try asking in here, haven't checked, but must have been discussed within the thread.

Sorry for appropriating this thread slightly, but what about beard trimmers? Any recommendations?

I've currently got a Remington PG400, but not only does it not cut so well (and one of the combs is broken), but also the 3mm is too short and the 6mm too long, with nothing in between.

I don't care about cordless/corded. I just want a good quality trimmer.
