Saw a clip of this the other day and immediately felt very old. When it was released I was probably of a similar age to the lads in the movie (Stand By Me). I have fond memories of this, and recall sitting on a Sunday afternoon watching this with my father laughing at the blueberry pie vomit scene.

If I had been in the Military I would have been forced to retire over 5 years ago .
Thinking 52 or 02 plate cars are quite new .
Remembering a time when anything that did more than 120mph and 0-60 in less than 8 sec was like a supercar .I have a car that exceeds both very easily and it cost way less than a grand ..
My GP is young enough to be my son .
The expiry date on my driving licence is less than 10 years away .
Isn't everyone's licence within 10 years of expiry? Unless you still have a paper licence like my Dad, who is determined to keep it until it expires as he hasn't moved since 1986 so has no need to get a photo card.

I have a car which can easily do that. It was something special in it's day and considered quite or even too fast for a 4 door saloon. Now it has the same BHP as a diesel Astra.

O/T A mate of mine's dad was a footman for the queen, so when he got his license the address was 'Buckingham Palace, London SW1' You can imagine how many times he showed this to females and police - and got off with/from both. Worked a treat. bd.

Being recently told I need 2 hearing aids and will be requiring new knees soon.
Let me know how you get on with the knees, mine are keeping me awake all night with pain. A regular cod liver oil dose helps a bit but I'm fed up of waking in pain and having to get up and walk out/stretch them.
its not the years, it's the mileage

Driving along with the kids listening to BBC 6 music, "record store day", was being promoted.

"What's a record store?" asks my 10 year old.

The resultant explanation made me feel really old, he'd never seen or been in one, and only ever played music via Spotify or you tube (all my CD's are up the loft).

"well before the internet, you had to buy a record or a tape or........"

Crikey, the world moves quick sometimes.

over the last few months radio 4 extra on DAB have been broadcasting Hancocks Half hour. on about three times a week, same episode.

Now even at 44, I'm a huge fan, with I think most of the episodes on cassette somewhere.

Oh joy, there was the odd episode I hadn't heard.

This has meant I could record them: now I'm fairly sure if you download them onto yr i phone, they auto delete after 28 days.

So naturally I dusted off some blank cassettes and recorded them. Now that took me back, waiting till 7pm precisely and hitting record on my DAB radio at home.

of course the children didn't get it and neither did they know what a cassette tape even was !!!

2 young chaps I work with. If you add together their ages, it's still 20 years less than mine.

Hearing Victoria Wood passed away. Kids probably don't know who she is/was.

My god you must be joking. Sooty was the best one.
I had my little boy in toy shop other day and he was looking at the Ninja Turtles. I remember when Ninja Turtles first came out in the UK.

Upon hearing that Victoria Wood had died, our 21 year old trainee said "never heard of her".

Went to the sports club yesterday.
God is a DJ and We Come One were playing.

The younger ones there (almost in their twenties!) never heard of Faithless.

I'm 68 and have a couple of Faithless albums.

But it's also great to remember Skiffle, the arrival of Rock and Roll and every other genre since.

The Twiggy and Tom jones things over the weekend, pure joy.

But the thing that says I'm old(ish)? A metre long shoehorn that saves getting down low when you know you may not get upright again.

One thing that makes me feel old is the fact I have a load of grey hairs, I've had them since I was 16 weeping

Those grey hairs...

You'll miss them when they're gone.
