Most cringeworthy thread you have ever read?
Discussion
The watch thread is ace. I actually kind of agree with Cotty and it's comical that he seems to have got it in the neck from both sides. That said, not got the tine to explain? Should have bought a Casio F91W.
At some point not far up the price ladder with watches, I think it's fair to say you don't get anything more for your money in tangible terms, and unlike many expensive displays like cars, the only person likely to notice what a load of cash you've splurged is someone who's spent more. That just seems like a sad circle of self-defeating wkery to me. But watching them at it is fun

What is actually wrong with your man H22observer? Why such a chip on his shoulder when it comes to everything financial?
I heard about this somehow the other dayhttp://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/owen-lee/social-me...
Is Social Media Making Us Unhappy?
and this bit stuck in my head in relation to PH
"a relentless exposure to what we perceive - perhaps erroneously - to be the more fulfilling/fun/interesting lives of others makes us devalue our own. "
There's a lot of BS on here and I think if you feel that life has dealt you an unfair hand, some of the more extreme " I won't get out of bed for less than £10k a day" bolx may increase the size of your chip and result in grumpier posts?
I am not saying this applies to the one you mentioned. I do think that places like this and Twitter can bring out some odd things in some people and if you are on here for a while they are easy to spot and have the same online "tone"
PH should sue Facebook over that whole social feed manipulation thing. Negative posts to influence a user's mood? fk off Zoidberg, we've prior arted the patenty st out of that years ago. Every time one of our users goes to What's New, we give 'em nothing but wkers with a load more money.

On the other side of the coin the advice given here (apart from relationship wise) is good as long as you reject the bottom and top 10% of extremes.and this bit stuck in my head in relation to PH

You can get peoples views and experience who have actually been through the processes you're interested in and who will help you. Not hand you the 10k a day job but at least point you in the right direction, be that career wise or what multi tool to purchase.
So I'd say the benefits outweighs the negatives
However if you cant get over the fact some people have better toys you probably weren't ready to leave the kindergarten anyway.

You could say the same with cars though. At around the £20k price point perhaps, you've got everything you need. Every modern comfort and safety feature, in a car that can carry 4 passengers and has more than enough performance available that the limiting factor there is the law and speed limits. Spending anything over that is just a waste of money really KFC said:

Nah, I don't buy that - except maybe the difference between used & new. If you went for say a Jaguar F-Type or a Maserati over the average £20k saloon, it at least goes places quicker or makes a nicer sound or whatever. There is a price ceiling, of course. Now I'm not saying they're useful, practical benefits but they still exist. More so than 'still tells the time', anyway.trashbat said:

Its not really going to get there any quicker than say a 2 litre Mondeo though is it. The limiting factors are going to be traffic and / or speed limits. In fact I can often get places far faster in my Smart car than my Cayenne, because the cheaper smaller car is far easier to park on arrival. I wouldn't really call 'makes a nicer sound' a real use of a car. If you are going to use something like that, then you should equally accept that 'it has a nice weight to it' is a valid reason to buy a Rolex. Sound and weight/looks are both just nice additions... one is to get from A>B and the other should tell you what time it is. Paying for anything else looks to be a waste of money.

So why don't you drive a Hyundai Santa Fe instead of the Cayenne?I wouldn't really call 'makes a nicer sound' a real use of a car. A variety of reasons, all of them superficial. I'm under absolutely no illusion as far as performance goes. The Santa Fe would do an airport run in exactly as many minutes, and fit exactly the same number of cases in the back. It'd also run my dogs to the beach equally well. From all practical points of view.... the Cayenne is a complete waste of money. I just enjoy owning it.

If somebody like you calls someone "Deluded", then takes the piss out of an above average salary, then brags about their own "success", then boasts about owning 3 houses - well, that's just not being helpful at all.
it's just a bit nasty & pathetic.
