What if cringe comes to life? What if living cringe cannot be stopped?

I imagine Real Life PH, with or without a fest to encourage it, to be a tiered Dantean vision of hell; limbo, lust, gluttony, lawn sausages, anger, something horrible involving a picture of a woman, road tax for cyclists, treachery and fancy watch wkers.

The London bashing is getting a little tiring though and aggressive in some cases. You don't see the constant abuse of other cities.
I know - but some of the people who defend it take it so personally (it seems that most of the people I know who live in London are gestapo like in the their efforts to get you say 'your right, I wish I lived in London').

It seems to be that those who don't live there cannot understand why you would want to, and those who do live there cannot understand why you wouldn't. Now if only both sides would accept the fact and move on eh....

I love parts of London, the issue for me is that much of the sprawling mass that starts at the M25 and people refer to as London just isn't London.
One of my colleagues tells me i miss out on life because i live in a "little town" and he lives in London. He lives in fking Hounslow.

A quick look on the TfL website shows that you can get to Hounslow from Trafalgar Square at 2am in 47 minutes on a night bus. I think he's being reasonable in calling Hounslow part of London in that respect.

Provincial thinking on my part probably but if it takes 47 minutes I expect to be in a different city.

So London is almost everything inside the M25!

I can be in Bristol from Cardiff in 50 minutes, that does not make Bristol a part of Cardiff or vice versa wink

Sure, but if the point being made was about enjoying the delights of Bristol, then I'd say being able to get there from Cardiff in 47 mins on a regular night bus for £1.45 would give you the same advantage.

Anyway, we're digressing!

I'll have you know we country folk have got internet and everything nowadays. And the local nags track has a demonstration of some new fangled flying machines there at the weekend! biggrin

London is massive, it has whole towns in it, lots of these towns are indeed stholes but when people defend London they never tell you about the delights of Feltham at 02:00,, the traffic in Twickenham for half the Saturdays in the year, Croydon (just why, why do we even have fking Croydon) or how easy it is to get from Hounslow to Trafalgar Square on the night bus in 47 minutes, they take the very small areas which are nice and apply that as if the whole of Greater London is like that.

And a further small edit, London and Greater London are different bloody things, my issues are mostly with Greater London. I quite like town itself. But i wouldn't want to live there. wink

Each to their own. I for one couldn't go back to living somewhere that doesn't have about a thousand choices of restaurant and other entertainment available virtually 24/7/365 within 20 minutes and that's before I've mentioned the incredible number very attractive people.

Anyway, back to the cringe. There was a CH thread on the front page earlier, must be some gems in there.

I heard about them, but I'll believe it when I see it. May take the horseless carriage out to investigate
