Nothing worse than a cheesy AM Vantage with a numberplate referring to James Bond e.g. JO07 SPY or some such crap.
To be fair, that's roughly in keeping with James Bond's level of discretion."The name's Bond. James Bond."
"Oh aye, you're that spy off the telly. The famous spy. The worst spy."
I expect the majority of Aston owners are fine.
Its possibly just the ones who congregate to talk about them at length?
The people who buy Aston Martins as cars are highly likely to be decent people. Its the ones who buy it as some sort of 'made it' statement who irk me.
The one chap on their who speaks about going out in his Aston and basically revelling in the envy of everyone who sees him. I don't think I have ever felt envy seeing another car (some classics excepted) - I'll think more power to your elbow for getting the car you want - but I wont be seething. (Wouldn't say no if someone gave me one, if I had the money it would probably go somewhere else sort of attitude).
But some people like to believe everyone is, as they bought with the hopes of impressing people as the primary objective. So they see it when its not there.

Yeah, I think the V8V and also the Bentley Continental GT have a bit of "look at me, I've made it" about them. Its possibly just the ones who congregate to talk about them at length?

sometimes read these threads and I wonder: has there ever been a nice Aston Martin owner?
And then I think, hold on a minute, that's a crass and undeserved generalisation that lumps together a whole set of people that only happen to share one trivial characteristic.
So. Are there any nice Aston Martin owners alive today?
None. tts, every last one of them. And then I think, hold on a minute, that's a crass and undeserved generalisation that lumps together a whole set of people that only happen to share one trivial characteristic.

Most I have met are perfectly normal peeps without and "yar, yar, jaw, jaw" about them.I have encountered a few who seem to think that ownership of one of the cheapest V8V's on the market when they bought makes them 'special'.
I don't think that many AM owners buy their cars on the basis no one will ever notice them - it just doesn't happen as like a Ferrari people will always go "Oooh, a Ferrari/Aston/etc" but there are some who only buy them to be noticed.
Personally I have spent the last few years looking at V8V prices and have seriously thought about buying one. If nothing else for that sound. I don't mind being noticed (you don't own a bright yellow Porsche and expect to slip into the crowd) but wouldn't want to labelled a cock just because of the type of car I'm driving.

Posters who like him and say as such are being slated ....for being honest.
I'm loathe to do this, but EFA.Funny how it works both ways eh?
Posters who have expressed positivity towards Chris Harris have been constantly ridiculed in this thread, by you and others, as being cringeworthy.

Brilliant.
The goodbye thread is a sickening cringe fest.
People aren't saying anything different from what they said in, for example, Garlick's goodbye thread. The goodbye thread is a sickening cringe fest.
However, because it's Chris Harris, any positive response is automatically deemed as cringeworthy, the concept has became a 'thing' in it's own right.

You really can't compare what Garlick put into PH to what Chris Harris did. Paul helped build Pistonheads into what it has become today. Him leaving has been a genuine loss to PH, whereas PH was just a bit on the side for Chris and I don't think one article a week will be missed. However, because it's Chris Harris, any positive response is automatically deemed as cringeworthy, the concept has became a 'thing' in it's own right.
This is my favourite from the thread.

Well there I was looking for a cheerful distraction on a Friday afternoon - something new from Paris maybe? Go to PH and this article is at the top. Oh... my heart sinks.

I've seen positivity being expressed in other threads, about other people and never have the responses been like when Harris is involved. There's being positive, and then there's fawning.

I've said in this thread before that it seems Harris = instant cringe for some people and that's not really fair.
