Posters who have expressed positivity towards Chris Harris have been constantly ridiculed in this thread, by you and others, as being cringeworthy.
I've seen positivity being expressed in other threads, about other people and never have the responses been like when Harris is involved.

There's being positive, and then there's fawning.
I disagree. The fawning does happen but it's minimal really and from what I've seen, most posters seem to just be being positive. Most of the responses seem to be no different than those you see in the Readers Cars forum when someone has a nice car.

I've said in this thread before that it seems Harris = instant cringe for some people and that's not really fair.
Bang on yes

You really can't compare what Garlick put into PH to what Chris Harris did. Paul helped build Pistonheads into what it has become today.
Tell me how Garlick improved this website.

It was fine before the arrival of either of these people, I seem to recall.

It got going as soon as he posted that very clever 'let me google that' meme. How about a link in the OP or at least a blinking clue for those of us who don't have the daily chav delivered on a sunday?

I don't mind being noticed [snip] but wouldn't want to labelled a cock just because of the type of car I'm driving.
I think this is sort of where a bit of misunderstanding comes in - it happens with Audi as well. People who own them get hyper-defensive and don't think about what is being said.

Owning or purchasing a certain type of car does not make one a cock (as per the 'all Audi drivers are cocks' nonsense).

However there are certain brands that cocks/the look at me brigade seem attracted to. Eg: yuppy status symbol Audi, or uber-fashion brand Aston (for the sake of clarity I am not passing comment on them as cars).

As such - people aren't saying 'all Aston drivers are pointless narcissists', they are saying 'pointless narcissists tend to chose Aston Martin if they can'.

Don't you just hate it when someone quotes you and refers to a point that you never made?

North West Tom came up with the notion of veracity of contribution and made the comparison between Garlick and Harris.

All I did was make the point that the Harris goodbye thread is no more cringeworty than Garlick's goodbye thread - people are expressing the same sentiments, yet because it's Chris Harris, the auto-cringe is triggered.

Wasn't Garlick involved in the much needed updating of the architecture of the site. Sure Ted made it but it was a bit creaky and slow before Haymarket came along.

It was better before the great unwashed were encouraged in, I preferred creaky and a functioning search.

That all started before Haymarket though, the dodgy maxpower car shows and hammond gushing were all going on before the site got sold to starbucks or whoever now owns it.

Thank you Justin.

You're as reliable as ever.
