Ooo a thread on Bristol cars in General Gassing.

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

If you spot threee of the following you have a full house.

1). Money talks, but wealth wispers.
2). You either get it or you don't.
3). Gentleman's conveyance.
Jesus, that is a horror show and the pinnacle is this post:

Dear Funk Star
May I suggest you go and find a few.. sit in them. drive them.. and then I think you will 'understand' their enduring appeal...
Bristol Motors exhibited a classic case history in absolutley understanding their own (super niche) market. It did not need to advertise or seduce journalists or generate reviews as they were already talking one to one with their next customer over a Dubonnet. Under Mr Tony Crook, Bristol Motors would not even sell you a car if he didn't like you. Rare.. kind of cool and lost.
Explore a bit more...

Isn't that the trajectory of all PH "Which" threads? It starts with someone asking where to get a multi-pack of socks, and ends with a handful of people discussing the merits of bespoke sock tailors off Jermyn Street. That's before they get on to which wool is "correct" for a subtle, yet dashing, effect.

Anyhoo. That thread where a PH'ers asked Rach* to marry him is quite cringey. Apparently she changed her username as a result. Very odd.

I skip over those sorts of threads, I sometimes wonder whether people are making some of the stuff up, or would they actually only buy socks that are knitted using wool from Joseph's technicolour dreamcoat and hand knitted by eunuchs?

Poster is a Jaguar TATA salesdrone, I believe.

The way he toes the TATA partyline you'd think he was based in the North Korea branch, not Hicksville USA,every post he makes reinforces the view that he truly is as an odious tosser.

The thing is i fking love Bristol Cars, since i got a lift in one when i was very young i always have. But the st people say to try and explain them is so fking cringe inducing i have to avoid mentioning i like them.

My favourite description was in a previous thread on them and was something like "the motoring equivalent of a Victorian Folly and should be applauded as being a very British taste."

I am not sure if anyone has got the obvious link here - or am I in need of a whoosh parrot on the basis of missing a deeper humour?

I don't really see the cringe there either. Sounds like a pretty legit problem to me.
