Jealous of someone buying a bottle of 22k whisky - not really.
Jealous or envious? Where's the damn grammar thread? hehe

Not envious of having £22k disposable income? Wow.

To be fair children are exposed to a lot more American spelling than say 15 years ago. (With iPhones, computer etc)..it's no wonder they find it more difficult.
Schools have been using source material from the internet for years. I send any homework with american spellings back with a letter explaining why i have told them not to do the work. It happens regularly. Lazy teachers.

On the face of it (and easily wrong), £22k on whisky seems more pitiful than enviable.

That much spare money affording that much opportunity, but an apparently quickly diminishing set of ideas as to what to actually do with it. But maybe that's just me - I can't imagine it's that popular an opinion.

Plus maybe they've just given £22m to the orphanage, what do I know.

I think the "whisky" cringe is purely for the use of the awful term "pull the trigger".

If the post had said "I'm going to make an investment of £22k into a special whisky and could do with some advice" then that would have been that. Most of us have some form of investment or another, be that property, cars, antiques or whatever, so spending £22k on a whisky is no different to spending £22k on a deposit for a BTL property.

Nobody would get envious of me if I bought another BTL or even cringe - unless I used the term "pull the trigger" & then it would be open season & quite right too.

Now can we move on before this turns into another "Hereford" type fest.

Having been the bafoon who used the phrase I honestly didn't know the hostility it carried, just a quick way to sum up a lot of things. Now I've learnt my lesson I agree with your point of moving on! (Just for random interest it was for investment (not even for me) and it has gone up over 300% in the last 4 years).

Sounds like a bloody good investment!

Does it ever actually get drunk or is it destined to be an investment?

Bit like the unopened boxes of Star Wars Lego selling for several grand - you can own it but can't do anything with it.

Christ. Imagine what he's like when he goes shopping in Tescos if he's like this about buying four identical bits of rubber. Extraordinary

And that's not cringeworthy in anyway?

Do you speak like that in the real world?
Describing him, yes I would, do feel free to carry on trying to score petty points.
