Yes, I have a long background in firearms and am confident I could safely carry one without posing a risk to myself or others. It's like anything based on survival, you hope you won't need it but if you do you'd be grateful you had it. I spend quite a bit of time on powerboats, I hope to never need my lifejacket and never have yet but I still wear it, very similar to how I would view a concealed carry.
